Down Memory Lane

Ikem's eyes flashed as the history of his past experiences and survival skimmed through his mind.

He swallowed hard.

He was a demigod, a being connected with the divine, he was divine himself, with heritage of the divine Ichor. His young mind clearly understood that fact.

That same reason was why different creatures residing in this forest were out for his life.

To them he was nothing but a tasty morsel, capable of elevating them upwards in their own realms of abyssal divinity.

He has survived previously because of an ability, and because he had been under the protection of his sister.

Now, that very sister was no more.

Her body turned to a host to one of the Abyssal spawns that were out to eat him.

Just him being here, and the scent of his blood were attracting hungry Spawns to his location, like some sort of death beacon.

If the three Sisters did not feast on him now, many more would come to take their place.

And an all end brawl would commence.

The husk sisters new that fact, and were moved by desperation.

The Third, ignoring First's statement moved to attack, her inhumane goat eyes gleaming with unhampered hunger.

She did not understand, the meaning behind The First's statement, and none of her sisters had bothered to clarify for her.

So, she did the only thing her incomplete mind could relate to.

Quenching her hunger.

With a quick movement, her hand slashed downwards, her clawful appendage tore at the demigods arm, eliciting pain, and a beautiful streak of golden blood.

Ikem whimpered, enduring the pain, and shuffling out of the way.

But, in his eyes there was a tiny flint of hope.

They had harmed him, and that in itself subconsciously triggered his ability.

The Third husk sister licked her hands, her body spasming in delight as her rough tongue ran along the golden blood.

Yet, her eyes lit up in greed, she wanted more.

"Third.. what.. have you.. done" First hissed, slowly moving backwards.

She and Second were now exceedingly wary, and did not want to be held up as collateral damage, to what would happen to third.

Though they doubted that the demigod could kill her.

But... Maybe they were in for a rude awakening.

Third moved in, inching closer to the bleeding boy. She had tasted the delightful goodness that was Ichor and it left her wanting for more, she ended up shaking off the instinct that warned her that she was in danger.

Managing to shrug it off to the back of her Spawnful mind.

She struck again, moving with a speed faster than what she was previously capable of, her hand; a moving blur, ripped out a huge chunk of flesh from Ikem's stomach.

"Aaagh", the young demigod was unable to stifle his voice this time, his pain was deep, and could be told by the tone of his voice.

It was pitiful.

The remaining husk sisters struggled to get a grip on their twisted sense of rationality, their thoughts began clouding as soon as they saw the raw flesh on Third's hand.

Second, more quicker and devious than her sisters, tackled Third to the ground, in a bid to get the savory meat.

Both sisters began to duke it out on the jungle ground, with Second serving a flurry of scratches and bites to her younger sister.

While First, First turned to Ikem.

Her insatiable craving deepening with every pint of golden blood that flowed down from his gaping abdomen.

There was a reason why Second had chosen to go for the Flesh in Third's hand instead of Ikem, she knew she couldn't afford a fight with First.

Even in her hunger induced state, her rationale still shone.

The First husk sister was a madman, well madwoman, and her irregularity couldn't be compared to the rest.

She had existed far longer than her sisters, and from what Ikem had gathered, the longer one of them lived, the stronger they became.

First stuck out her forked tongue once again, tasting the air deviously, while pools of saliva formed through her foaming mouth.

Without waiting a next moment, she lunged.

Appearing in front of Ikem.

She couldn't help but narrow her eyes as she felt the veil of caution breathing down her neck. Something was warning her against attacking the boy, but just like her younger sister she shrugged it off.

First lifted Ikem into the air, with his back scraping roughly against the tree's bark.

He squirmed under her malicious gaze, while hiding one of his own.

The young boy was waiting, bearing through the pain of First's claws tightening around his neck.

Carefully bidding his time

First dug into his stomach with her free hand, burrowing deeper as she foraged for more of the goodnesses her sister had taken.

Her grip tightened around his intestines, soliciting a look of glee.

She made to tug as she smiled.

But she couldn't. Traces of confusion immediately appeared on her face.

She tried tugging again, this time using greater strength, in return, her hand budged slightly but didn't pull away.

She stared at Ikem's abdomen, her anger flaring as soon as she caught sight of what obstructed her.

She gazed at Ikem's hands, as both coiled tightly at her arm.

Ikem let out a tired smile, a radiant amber-hued blood seeping from from his trembling lips.

"Got you"

He released his right hand, heaving it into the air as it gleamed with a dark purple light, before slamming it audaciously onto First's head.

The Three sisters froze as their bodies suddenly began trembling without control.

However at that moment, a brilliant white light emerged unawares and covered the entire scene, blocking it from view.

As if to obstruct prying eyes.

The light lasted for roughly eight seconds.

And when it did recede, it revealed the young demigod laying wearily atop an Oak tree's branch.

His eyes tightly shut as he was embraced by an enchanted slumber.

The Oak tree stood lonely in the midst of a newly created clearing.

And the three husk sisters, were no were to be found.

Material World,

A Chasm at Gravefield.

Ikem's eyes slowly fluttered open, staring up at the Abomination's glare.
