This might just be the final threat the reincarnators have to face.
Ding Muyu came up with a reasonable explanation in her mind.
Meanwhile, the true culprit, completely oblivious to the situation, had no idea the Lord God had already taken the blame for her — a rather massive and heavy one at that.
At this moment, Abigail, holding Alice in her arms, watched everyone else desperately fighting to survive. She found it immensely satisfying to observe them scrambling in panic, all caused by the chaos she had orchestrated from behind the scenes.
Outside, with a series of uphill sprints, the Hummer burst out of the underground garage.
Outside the garage was a massive highway.
"Look! There's our destination! Finally, we can get rid of this monster," Miyamoto Rei exclaimed excitedly, pointing toward the river ahead.
"Everyone, hold tight, I'm going to floor it!" Qi Zhou announced.
As his voice rang out, the Hummer's engine roared louder, and it surged forward.
Boom!
Just then, the Flesh Mountain crashed out of the garage, its enormous body thudding against the ground with a deafening rumble.
Seeing the creature catching up again, everyone in the car was on edge.
But their destination was close—just a bit further, and they could escape.
It was a race for life and death. A single mistake could mean total annihilation.
In the tense atmosphere, a sudden sense of weightlessness made everyone float momentarily. But it only lasted a second.
Boom!
The Hummer splashed down into the water, and inside the car, everyone was in disarray from the sudden drop.
Qi Zhou, safely strapped into the driver's seat, was unaffected. He slammed the accelerator, pushing the Hummer forward as much as possible.
Just then, a massive shadow appeared above the river.
Splash!
A gigantic wave lifted the Hummer several meters.
Seeing the Flesh Mountain hadn't sunk, everyone's faces turned pale.
"No way... can this thing swim?" Hirano Toda muttered in disbelief, watching the Flesh Mountain flail its arms in the water.
Fortunately, the monster couldn't swim. Slowly, it sank beneath the surface.
As the Flesh Mountain disappeared into the depths, everyone in the car heaved a sigh of relief.
"Thank goodness. We finally got rid of that huge monster," Takagi Saya said, still shaken.
"Yeah, that was way too close," Saeko Busujima added, sounding relieved.
At that moment, Qi Zhou climbed out of the driver's seat and handed the wheel to Shizuka Marikawa.
"I'm exhausted. Make some space for me to rest."
With that, Qi Zhou found a spot to lean back and quickly fell asleep.
"I'm tired too. Komuro, keep an eye on things, I'm going to rest for a bit," Hirano Toda said as he returned to the car and spoke to Komuro Takashi.
"Sure, rest up. I'll keep watch," Komuro replied, climbing out of the car's sunroof to sit on top.
"Takashi," came a voice beside him—it was Miyamoto Rei, who had also climbed out of the car.
"Rei, why aren't you sleeping?"
"I'm not that tired right now," Rei said, brushing her hair back.
"Takashi, what do you think will happen to us?"
"I don't know. We'll just have to take it one step at a time. But I believe we'll find a way out."
Komuro looked ahead, smiling.
"We have so many companions now. As long as we stick together, we'll survive."
His smile calmed Rei's anxious heart.
"Takashi, I believe in you. Let's do our best together."
"Yeah."
Meanwhile, in the river, the Flesh Mountain was eerily still. The water rushed over its body, but it didn't move. Just as everyone had assumed, it had indeed sunk to the bottom. However, the riverbed wasn't holding it down. Suddenly, several tentacles emerged from behind it, gripping the ground and dragging the Flesh Mountain step by step toward the far bank.
---
Waking up from her slumber, Abigail thought she heard singing.
"Ah…"
Stretching lazily, she felt like something was missing.
Wait a minute, where's my loli? Where's that soft, cuddly little loli I was holding?
Looking around the car, she didn't see her. But then she recognized the familiar voice.
Isn't that Alice?
Abigail poked her head out of the Hummer's sunroof and saw Alice sitting on Hirano Toda's lap, happily singing.
"Damn loli-loving fatty…" Abigail muttered under her breath.
The Hummer had crossed the river and was now parked by the shore for a break.
Abigail climbed onto the roof of the car, enjoying the breeze.
"Why does my butt feel cold?"
That's when she realized she was still wearing just a T-shirt. No wonder she was feeling chilly.
Most people were still asleep, except for Takagi Saya, who was scanning the surroundings with binoculars.
For some reason, it was eerily quiet. Not a single zombie in sight. Even the distant human voices had vanished.
"Abby-chan, you're awake," Alice noticed Abigail and said happily.
"Yeah, I'm awake. What are you guys singing?"
"We're singing! Do you want to join us, Abby-chan?"
"I'll pass. You guys keep singing. I'm going for a walk."
Abigail made her way to the edge of the car. She was about to jump down but stopped herself. Wait, I'm just a regular 12-year-old girl. Jumping from this height might be a bad idea.
She crouched and carefully climbed down instead.
As her feet hit the ground, she strolled around, contemplating her next move.
According to the plot, the only major event left was visiting Takagi's family. Although there would be some minor incidents along the way, with the reincarnators in the group, the original story was likely to change. All that was left was to plan the final act.
It was almost the end. Honestly, Abigail was getting tired of pretending to be a well-behaved kid. She couldn't do anything too overt, and while secretly causing chaos was fun, it was also frustrating at times. She couldn't fully unleash her ideas.
But soon, it would be over. Abigail couldn't wait to see everyone's reactions when she, the final boss and mastermind, revealed herself. It was sure to be entertaining.
As time passed, the others woke up.
"Abby-chan, come change your clothes!" came Ding Muyu's voice from the car.
"Coming!"
Abigail walked over.
"I brought some clothes for everyone to choose from," Shizuka Marikawa announced, laying out a pile of clothes, which immediately caught the attention of the girls.
Abigail, however, had no interest in choosing new clothes. She found her original outfit and quickly changed out of her T-shirt.
Meanwhile, the other girls eagerly picked out outfits and changed into them.
Suddenly, Abigail realized something—she had missed a rare scene of girls changing! How could she let such an opportunity slip by?
"What's wrong, Abby-chan?" Alice asked, noticing Abigail's sudden gloom.
"I'm fine, just low on loli energy. Let me recharge."
With that, Abigail hugged Alice tightly.
Ah, lolis really are the best. All the other women are just big jerks.
"Hehe, that tickles, Abby-chan!"
On the other side, Hirano Toda was teaching the others how to use guns.
Qi Zhou, already familiar with firearms, wasn't paying attention. He grabbed a shotgun and headed for the road.
"That's odd. They were everywhere yesterday, but where did all the zombies go?"
"Qi, don't wander off alone! It's dangerous!" Komuro Takashi called out.
"Don't worry, there aren't any zombies. I don't know where they've gone," Qi Zhou replied.
After checking the area, he returned to the car.
"Takashi!"
Miyamoto Rei called out to him from the front.
When Komuro Takashi turned around, he froze.
"What's wrong?" Hirano asked, curious, and then his face turned beet red.
"Wow, what a sight!" Jing Tianhua exclaimed in awe.
"How do I look? Any complaints?" Miyamoto Rei struck a pose in front of Komuro.
"No, it suits you," Komuro replied.
"Ah, Busujima-senpai, you look amazing. So cool and beautiful!" Jing praised, admiring Saeko Busujima.
"Thank you, Jing, but could you stop staring at me like that?" Saeko replied, a bit embarrassed.
Smack!
Ding Muyu gave Jing a light slap on the back of his head.
"Hey, you otaku, don't you know it's rude to stare at people like that?"
Just then, the Hummer's engine roared to life.
"Hey, I'm driving the car up ahead. Climb on! Don't worry, there aren't any zombies around," Qi Zhou's voice came from the driver's seat.
With the tires spinning rapidly, the Hummer powered its way up the 45-degree embankment.
"Let's go!" Komuro called out, and the group climbed the embankment to the road above.
"It's so quiet! There were so many of them yesterday," Takagi Saya remarked, scanning the area with her binoculars.
"No idea what happened, but fewer zombies is a good thing. Hey, Takagi, isn't your family's house nearby? Should we stop by and check it out?
Maybe your parents are still there," Qi Zhou suggested.
"Let's go," Takagi Saya replied tersely.
Everyone continued on their journey.
"I understand. I'm not expecting anything," Takagi Saya replied. But even though she said that, it was clear she still harbored some hope.
"Alright, since we've chosen our next destination, let's get in the car," Saeko Busujima said as she walked over.
Everyone got back into the vehicle. Originally, Komuro Takashi planned to sit on the roof with Miyamoto Rei, but Ding Muyu stopped them. While others may have thought she was concerned about safety, Abigail knew the truth—Ding Muyu was about to change the course of the story.
