Two Roads and Liars

Early in the morning, all of us began to tidy up most of our belongings. After a meal, we resumed our journey towards our mission. Vernon walked alongside Levi, conversing with him in a foreign language from the east. I walked beside Eamon, just a yard behind the two. I tried to eavesdrop, but it was useless as they spoke almost in whispers, though not so quietly as to arouse suspicion. I could only discern that the language they are using, is the old church language of the east.

Eamon's aura seemed bright; his cloak, which usually concealed most of his body, was parted at his sides. His eyes fell on me, and he gave me a nod before returning his gaze to the path before us. Although I do not know exactly what his small gesture meant, I have to admit that it comforted my creeping anxiety.
