Chapter 1: The Unexpected Tension

The sun dipped low, casting a warm, orange glow across the living room. Luca sat on the plush couch, restless and anxious. His eyes flickered toward the door every few minutes, waiting. He'd been doing that a lot lately—waiting for Ethan.

He hated it.

They weren't even related by blood, but Ethan had been his "brother" ever since they were children. So why did it feel like something was changing? Why did his heart race whenever Ethan was near? Luca clenched his fists, his thoughts tangled in the strange, forbidden feelings he had been fighting for months.

The front door opened with a soft click, and Luca's pulse quickened. Ethan stepped inside, his presence filling the room as it always did. His dark hair was slightly tousled, and his fitted black T-shirt clung to his muscular chest. Luca's breath caught.

"Hey," Ethan said, his voice deep and casual as he set his keys on the table.

Luca swallowed hard, willing his body to relax. "Hey... I was waiting for you."

Ethan raised an eyebrow but didn't press further. He walked over to the couch and sat beside Luca, the space between them too small, the tension too thick.

"You didn't have to wait," Ethan said, his voice low, almost too intimate.

Luca shrugged, his throat dry. His mind screamed at him to move, but his body refused. The silence between them grew heavier, charged with something unspoken. Ethan's arm brushed lightly against Luca's, and the contact sent a shiver down Luca's spine.

"Are you okay?" Ethan asked, his tone shifting. His gaze lingered on Luca, those intense, dark eyes searching for something.

"I'm fine," Luca lied, trying to sound casual. His pulse raced, and he moved to stand, needing space. But before he could rise, Ethan's hand shot out, catching his wrist.

"Luca..." Ethan's voice was barely a whisper, but it was enough to freeze Luca in place.

The warmth of Ethan's hand on his skin sent a jolt through him, and Luca's heart pounded in his chest. He tried to pull away, but Ethan's grip tightened slightly, his eyes holding Luca captive. For a moment, neither spoke, but the unspoken desire between them was palpable, impossible to ignore.

Ethan's fingers trailed down Luca's wrist, slow and deliberate, his touch burning Luca's skin. Luca's breath hitched, his body betraying him.

They were too close now—closer than they had ever been. And despite everything, Luca didn't want to pull away.
