Chapter 116: Confrontation

The door swung open, and there stood Darren, arms crossed, his gaze fixed on Luca. The tension in the air was palpable, with Darren's eyes narrowing suspiciously as he took in his brother's disheveled appearance. Ethan stayed silent, his heart racing as he listened from the bed, hoping Darren wouldn't step inside and see him.

"What took you so long?" Darren asked, his voice laced with skepticism.

Luca feigned a casual demeanor, shrugging as he leaned against the doorframe. "Just needed a moment to myself. Didn't realize it was against the rules to get some peace," he said with a smirk, his tone bordering on dismissive.

Darren's eyes flickered with doubt, and he took a step closer, his gaze sweeping over Luca's appearance. "You seem… distracted," he remarked, his voice lowering as though trying to read between the lines.

Luca held his ground, a slight grin forming at his brother's probing. "I'm fine, Darren. You're the one who seems worked up," he countered, crossing his arms.

The confrontation between them hung thick in the air, and for a moment, it seemed like Darren might push the issue. But he hesitated, his jaw tightening as if weighing his options. "If you're hiding something, you know I'll find out eventually," he warned, turning on his heel and walking away.

As soon as Darren was out of sight, Luca closed the door and exhaled in relief. He quickly turned back to the bed, where Ethan was sitting up, his expression a mixture of anxiety and frustration. "That was close," Ethan whispered, his voice barely audible.

"Too close," Luca agreed, making his way back to Ethan. "But don't worry, he didn't suspect anything… yet."

Ethan's eyes met Luca's, the fear still evident in his gaze. "What if he finds out?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly. The thought of Darren discovering the truth about them was enough to send chills down his spine.

Luca's expression softened as he reached out to cup Ethan's cheek. "I won't let that happen," he said, his tone firm with conviction. "We'll just have to be more careful. But I promise you, nothing and no one will come between us."

Ethan leaned into Luca's touch, finding comfort in the warmth of his hand. He nodded, his worries easing slightly with Luca's reassurances. But a lingering doubt remained, one that gnawed at the back of his mind—a fear that this secret wouldn't stay hidden forever.

"Let's not waste the time we have," Luca whispered, closing the distance between them and capturing Ethan's lips in a deep kiss. This time, there was no hesitation, no interruptions, just the overwhelming desire to lose themselves in each other. The kiss deepened, growing more urgent as Luca's hands roamed over Ethan's body, reigniting the heat that had simmered between them.

But even as passion took hold, a part of Ethan couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that Darren wasn't entirely convinced. It was only a matter of time before the truth threatened to unravel everything they had fought to keep hidden.
