The SCP foundation

Prologue: The SCP Foundation

In the shadows of society, beneath the surface of everyday life, an invisible hand pulls the strings of reality. It is a hand that no one knows exists, yet its influence is everywhere, guarding the world from threats it cannot possibly comprehend. This hand belongs to The SCP Foundation—a clandestine organization tasked with securing, containing, and protecting that which defies the laws of nature.

For centuries, the Foundation has operated in secret, hidden from governments, the public, and even its own members, each sworn to silence and compliance. Its mandate is simple, yet terrifying: Secure anomalies, contain the unexplainable, protect humanity from what it cannot understand.

The anomalies—known as SCPs—come in countless forms. Some are harmless, curiosities of a universe far stranger than anyone could ever imagine. Others are deadly, capable of breaking minds, tearing through the fabric of reality, or extinguishing all life in an instant. And then there are those that the Foundation fears most of all—those that think, those that plan, and those that wait.

The Foundation does not ask why these anomalies exist, nor does it seek to destroy them. Instead, its mission is control—control over the incomprehensible, the chaotic, the impossible. To achieve this, the Foundation employs scientists, researchers, agents, and soldiers—all dedicated to ensuring that these SCPs remain contained, hidden from the eyes of the world.

But not all SCPs are meant to be contained.

Some possess powers so great, intellect so vast, that no cage can hold them. Some SCPs escape, break free, and challenge the very idea of security. When that happens, the Foundation goes to war—against entities that defy understanding, against horrors that cannot be killed, and against its own failures.

Every SCP is given a designation and a class:

Safe: Objects that can be reliably contained.

Euclid: Entities that require constant monitoring, unpredictable but containable.

Keter: Anomalies so dangerous that their very existence threatens the survival of the world.

Of these, the Keter class represents the most dangerous, uncontrollable threats, and for each Keter SCP, there exists the terrifying reality that no matter how deep the Foundation buries it, how complex its containment procedures are, it could still one day escape.

The Foundation knows that its mission is not foolproof. Its victories are temporary, its containment fragile. For every breach that is stopped, there is another waiting to happen. Each day, the world rests on the edge of catastrophe, unaware of how close it is to collapse.

They protect you, but who will protect them?

And when the unthinkable occurs, when the most dangerous SCPs break free, when containment protocols fail and the Foundation stands on the brink of ruin, who will be left to stand against the tide?
