Chapter 28 Three little ones

Tsunade carried her schoolbag, trailed by a pale and unkempt boy.

"Tsunade, are you secretly training?!" the scruffy-haired boy blurted out. "I heard your grandfather was the First Hokage. Is he really that strong?"

The pale boy walking beside them looked calm. "This is where we part ways. I'm heading home," he said.

"Huh? Orochimaru, you're leaving already? But aren't your parents not home?" the messy-haired kid shouted after him.

"I can go home by myself," Orochimaru—though he was still just "little Orochimaru" at this point—replied calmly. He turned to leave but bumped into someone.

"Ouch... okay, it doesn't hurt," Yuya muttered, rubbing his head as he looked down at the boy who had fallen. He quickly extended his hand. "Sorry, are you alright, kid?"

Little Orochimaru was about to accept the hand when he suddenly pulled back after hearing Yuya's words. He stood up and replied, "You're only a few years older than me. Don't call me that."

Yuya blinked, studying the boy before shifting his gaze to the girl with him. His face brightened. "Hey, Tsunade."

Tsunade's expression darkened, and she turned away with a huff.

The scruffy white-haired boy next to them pointed at Yuya angrily, shouting, "Hey! What did you do to Tsunade?! Don't you know she's the granddaughter of the First Hokage? She's Konoha's princess!"

Yuya's welcoming smile vanished.

Tsunade, annoyed, stomped on the white-haired boy's foot. "Jiraiya! How many times have I told you not to call me that!"

Jiraiya yelped in pain.

Yuya raised an eyebrow, looking at the trio. So, these were the future legendary Sannin—Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade. Time really did fly. It felt like just yesterday that Tsunade was learning to gamble with her grandfather, Hashirama.

He sighed and suppressed a smile. Turning serious, he scolded, "Tsunade, you shouldn't be so rude to your classmates."

Tsunade puffed her cheeks angrily and retorted, "Mind your own business!" She then tried to run off, but Yuya grabbed her effortlessly.

"What a stubborn kid," Yuya sighed. He looked at Jiraiya and Orochimaru. "Sorry about Tsunade. How about I make it up to you with a nice meal?"

Jiraiya's ears perked up. "A meal? What kind of meal?"

Orochimaru, on the other hand, declined politely. "No, thank you. I need to head home."

Yuya leaned in slightly, speaking in a low voice. "There's a new barbecue place in town. They serve top-grade Snow Mountain Wagyu beef imported from the Land of Frost."

Jiraiya froze in place, while Orochimaru hesitated.

Yuya grinned. His ninja newspaper, which not only spread news but also featured advertisements, had clearly done its job promoting the restaurant.

"Big brother, are you really paying? I heard that place is super expensive," Jiraiya asked, his attitude shifting completely.

Tsunade, still fuming, interjected. "Of course he's rich! He just doesn't give me any money."

Yuya laughed and ruffled Tsunade's hair playfully. "You think I don't know what you'd do with the money if I gave it to you?"

Tsunade shot back, "You're only six years older than me! Stop calling me a kid!"

Ignoring her outburst, Yuya turned to Orochimaru. "What about you? Still not interested?"

Orochimaru hesitated for a moment before shaking his head. "I'd better go—"

Before he could finish, Jiraiya cut him off, shouting, "Come on, let's go eat some barbecue!"

Half an hour later, the four of them sat around a table at the barbecue restaurant, which had a modern wooden design. The three kids devoured plates of beef, while Yuya barely touched his food, instead jotting down names in a small notebook.

"Hey, aren't you going to eat?" Jiraiya asked, already thinking about the next time he could get a free meal out of Yuya.

Yuya smiled and shook his head. "Are you calling me 'big brother' just so I'll treat you to barbecue every day?"

Jiraiya grinned sheepishly. "Every day would be too much. Once a week is fine, haha."

Tsunade rolled her eyes at Jiraiya's foolishness and continued eating. She wasn't about to let Yuya off the hook—she was determined to eat her fill.

Orochimaru, eating quietly and methodically, was relieved Yuya hadn't ordered more. He knew his portion would be gone if Jiraiya or Tsunade got their hands on it.

Yuya finally put away his notebook and said, "Once a week might be tough. I've been pretty busy."

Tsunade looked up and smirked. "Busy? You mean collecting donations again, while the people in the big houses don't contribute anything?"

Yuya raised an eyebrow, realizing what was bothering her. He smiled. "Why do you think that, Tsunade? Why would those people in the big houses need to donate?"

Tsunade slammed the table. "Why shouldn't they? Everyone else is donating! My mom gave all her savings, her bedding, even her new clothes! Everyone in the neighborhood did. But those people living in big houses didn't!"

Yuya chuckled softly, noticing how Tsunade's temper was starting to resemble her grandfather's.

Still calm, he apologized to the nearby diners. "Sorry, my sister's just a bit spirited."

The diners, seeing how young Yuya was and how polite his apology sounded, quickly brushed it off.

Yuya turned back to Tsunade, his voice gentle. "I'm proud of you for noticing this, Tsunade. But some things are best left alone. Now, why don't you focus on eating? Your meat's getting overcooked."

Grumbling, Tsunade reluctantly sat back down, stuffing her face with the meat, clearly frustrated but silenced.

When Yuya saw they were nearly done, he smiled. "You've eaten your fill, right?"

Tsunade narrowed her eyes. "You're not going to pay, are you?"

Yuya grinned mischievously. "Of course I am. But now it's my turn."

He got up, grabbed a bowl of condiments—chili, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil—and began enjoying his meal, dipping each piece of meat with a satisfied "mmm."

Jiraiya and Tsunade, now stuffed, could only watch him, drooling slightly as the aroma of his dipping sauce wafted their way.

It was just too unfair.
