Chapter 137: Staff of Silent Sea

"This fire resistance potion isn't bad at all!" Rynar casually picked up a potion fixed in a wooden crate.

Unlike the Time Sand Potion, this one wasn't displayed individually on velvet. Instead, it was nestled alongside several identical potions in a wooden box rack.

"Yes, it's a common potion, but the quality is excellent!" Nyx bent over slightly to pick one up for closer inspection.

At that moment, the duchess inadvertently curved her body into an elegant, mesmerizing arc.

Gulp! Rynar's eyes swept across the scene, catching this breathtaking moment. Instantly, he couldn't help swallowing nervously.

"Hey! What are you staring at?" Nyx stomped her foot lightly, snapping Rynar out of his daze.

To his dismay, he realized he'd been staring at Nyx for a good half minute. When Nyx noticed his idiotic, love-struck expression, her face flushed red.

"Hmph! Men are all pigs!" she declared suddenly, turning on her heel and walking away with a bright red face.

"Wait, wait! Nyx, let me explain!" Rynar's heart sank.

...

After a painstakingly long effort, Rynar finally managed to soothe this little storm. Holding Nyx's flushed hand, he continued exploring Dylan's collection of magical treasures.

"How about we look at the magic equipment?" Rynar coaxed softly, trying to lift her mood.

"Mm-hmm!" Nyx squinted her eyes in delight. Whether it was the warmth of his hand or his concern that pleased her, it was hard to tell.

"Your staff looks a bit old. The mana crystal embedded in it has cracks," Rynar said thoughtfully.

"Yes, well... there's nothing we can do about it. Without a high-ranking spellcaster, we can't maintain or replenish magical equipment," Nyx replied, shaking her head.

In Nyx's duchy, there were no advanced spellcasters who could repair or create such items.

(Magical items don't always require alchemists; any spellcaster with the proper skills can make them. However, alchemists are the most sensitive to magical crafting and possess unparalleled talent for creating such items.)

Creak! The wooden door groaned as Rynar led Nyx into a cozy wooden house.

Though the house wasn't large—barely over a hundred square meters—it was spotless. Clearly, Dylan was a meticulous person.

The shelves and items displayed were free of even the faintest speck of dust.

On the racks, only about one-tenth of Dylan's collection was displayed. Rynar and Nyx began inspecting each item carefully.

"Dragonflame Battleaxe? We don't have any warriors in the city who wield axes.

This one's useless for now," Rynar remarked, his hand brushing over a battleaxe with a slightly curved grip.

The entire weapon gleamed in a fiery gold-red hue, and its blade wasn't the usual silver but glowed like a heart of flame, as though the axe itself were burning.

"Was that... a dragon's roar?" Nyx asked, startled, pointing at the battleaxe.

"Hmm? A dragon's roar!" Rynar had also heard the faint echo of the sound.

"This... this isn't made from Smaug's flesh and bones, is it?" Rynar hesitated. The grip looked disturbingly like a giant dragon's finger bone.

Dragonflame Battleaxe (Battle-Tested Weapon): "Forged from the refined blood of Smaug, mixed with adamantite and his dragon scales. The handle is crafted from Smaug's finger bone, infused with mithril and engraved with magical runes.

This weapon exudes Smaug's dragon aura, capable of intimidating any creature with dragon blood below a pure-blood dragon.**

Skills:

Dragonflame Cleave (Passive): Wounds inflicted by the blade will burn with dragonflame.

Raging Dragonflame: Releases Smaug's power, striking up to five enemies with dragonflame in a straight line, causing area damage within the path. Range: 1,000 meters. Cooldown: 30 minutes.

After reading the weapon's stats through his system, Rynar nodded in agreement.

The axe's capabilities were truly impressive, especially the passive skill that added damage over time. Such weapons were a dream for any warrior.

"Too bad we don't have anyone who can use it," Rynar sighed. Despite the weapon's quality, his army lacked anyone proficient in axes.

(Though Lance was a warrior, he specialized in spears and shields.)

"Someday, it will find its rightful owner," Nyx said, gently stroking the battleaxe. Her gaze softened with a rare tenderness.

"Let's look for a staff instead. That's why we're here," Rynar reminded, refocusing on their primary goal.

"Well... Rynar, if there's nothing suitable, I can make do with my old one.

I won't need to fight much in the future anyway," Nyx said quietly. She knew Rynar wouldn't let her return to the battlefield.

As a member of Zaltarion's royal family, even if Rynar felt no romantic attachment to her, he wouldn't allow a duchess to risk her life so carelessly.

"You still need a good weapon for self-defense," Rynar said firmly.

"It's fine. I trust you'll protect me and the castle," Nyx replied, her face lighting up with a pure, radiant smile.

"Of course!" Rynar said, puffing out his chest.

"Look at this one!" Rynar's eyes brightened as his system identified a staff among the eight displayed.

"This is the best of them—an epic weapon: The Staff of Silent Sea!" Rynar exclaimed in amazement.

He hadn't expected Dylan to have forged such a legendary piece.

Rynar suddenly remembered Dylan had mentioned it before, but at the time, Rynar was too busy managing the Zaltarion farmlands to care.

He'd completely ignored Dylan's invitation to inspect the weapon in person.

"An epic staff?" Nyx's eyes lit up with excitement. Despite her earlier protests, no spellcaster could resist the allure of a finely crafted, high-tier staff.

A good staff could significantly enhance a mage's abilities.

The staff was about 1.5 meters long, with a sleek, sea-green shaft. At its tip was an Ocean's Heart gem, glowing brilliantly.

Above it sat a single, azure dragon scale, radiating elemental energy in a mesmerizing swirl.

The Staff of Silent Sea (Epic Weapon): "Core gem: Ocean's Heart. Shaft: Silentwood. Topped with a wind dragon's reverse scale.

Capable of summoning and manipulating vast water elements, with the power to create artificial tsunamis.

Skills:

Silent Sea: Creates a domain of silence, silencing all enemies within it. The domain can be toggled on or off. Sea Tree Waltz: Summons sea tree projections to fight, with dual water and wood magic.

Attacks may cause poison or freeze effects. Tidal Wave Assault: Summons water elements from nearby lakes or oceans to form a tsunami. Cooldown: 7 days.

Ocean Shadow: Creates a water-clone capable of storing 50% of the caster's mana and taking all damage on their behalf until its mana depletes.

Turbulent Dragon Strike: Summons a dragon formed from water and wind elements. The dragon has 150% of the caster's mana. Cooldown: 1 year. Ocean Caller (Passive): Boosts water and wood magic by 25%. Reduces damage taken from water and wood magic by 50%.

"Wow! This is incredible!" Rynar was genuinely stunned. The staff was so overpowered that it almost made him question his sanity.

The Ocean's Heart gem and Silentwood were items he'd randomly given Dylan. That dragon scale?

Dylan must have swindled it from Caslow. A dragon's reverse scale was nearly indestructible and guarded their weakest point. Obtaining one was no small feat.

"This staff is perfect for you," Rynar said, gently lifting it from its velvet-lined box and handing it to Nyx.

Nyx was utterly speechless, holding the Staff of Silent Sea with trembling hands. Her eyes glimmered with tears. This was no ordinary gift.

Even her duchy's national treasure—a mere epic item—paled in comparison. For Rynar to give her such a weapon so casually felt like a dowry for marriage.

"Th-thank you..." she whispered, stars of emotion sparkling in her eyes.
