Chapter 140: Crisis in Singrey

"Your Majesty, something terrible has happened!" Reynard burst into the room early in the morning, rudely interrupting Rynar and Nyx's quiet, intimate moment.

"What happened?" Rynar nonchalantly withdrew his hand, pretending nothing was amiss.

Duchess Nyx, blushing furiously, quickly stood, smoothed her slightly disheveled clothing, nodded politely to Reynard, and then hurriedly left the room, face still in her hands.

"Speak clearly," Rynar said, sipping water as though annoyed. "I hope your news is dire enough to justify interrupting my lovely morning."

Internally, however, he sighed in relief—thank goodness Nyx had convinced him not to indulge in certain... midday indulgences.

Otherwise, Reynard would've met a far less merciful Rynar today. He made a mental note to expedite the castle's reconstruction plans—living without proper doors was unacceptable.

"Singrey's Star Elves were attacked by Dol Guldur's Orcs last night. While their losses weren't severe, their morale is in shambles.

Worse still, King Elenthor was grievously injured and has gone missing!" Reynard reported, his brow furrowed deeply.

"Pfft!" Rynar spat his water out in shock.

Not bothering to wipe away the mess, Rynar pressed on, "Injured and missing? How do you know?

And how in the world did they even get attacked? Did they use snot to patch up the Star Barrier?"

"They sent a messenger pleading for aid. Elenthor was ambushed by a Black Hero riding a Nightmare during an assault on Dol Guldur's fortress. Now, his status is unknown.

The Star Elves, led by Star Dragon Knight Elandor, managed to retreat, but the Orcs have tracked them back to Singrey.

entire domain is under siege, and they desperately need allied reinforcements. The messenger has already left to notify the two kingdoms near the Lonely Mountain."

Reynard's tone carried rare exasperation. Clearly, he couldn't fathom why the Elves had decided to provoke the Orcs in that decrepit fortress.

"What?" Rynar was dumbfounded. What was Elenthor thinking? Dol Guldur wasn't just an ordinary outpost—it was a notorious stronghold.

Among Sauron's nine Nazgûl, the second most powerful, Khamûl, resided there. Later, when Sauron rose again, Dol Guldur often housed five or six Black Riders at a time!

"The current master there should be Khamûl, the Black Easterling, second only to the Witch-king of Angmar among the Nazgûl.

He's no joke... Elenthor must've taken a serious hit," Rynar muttered to himself.

As for whether Elenthor had perished, Rynar wasn't optimistic. Khamûl's strength was a poor match for a ranger. Rynar could only hope the poor Elf was still alive.

"So, we have to send troops to Isengard?" Rynar asked, his thoughts whirling.

With Singrey surrounded, the Star Elves were exposed to the Orc army. Without reinforcements, the fall of their barrier was inevitable.

"Yes, my lord. We must honor the alliance and send aid," Reynard affirmed with a resolute nod.

His chivalric code meant he would assist even without an alliance; mercy and honor were inseparable for a knight.

"Then make the arrangements! Summon our knights and rally the Elaris Woods Rangers.

The forested terrain of this battle will be complex, so the other troops will hold down the fort in Riverguard.

Also, have Omsk come to see me," Rynar instructed, exhaustion creeping into his voice.

"As you command, Your Majesty!" Reynard bellowed.

"For the glory we once lost…" Rynar murmured, leaning back into his chair and letting his thoughts drift.

"Your Majesty, you summoned me?" Omsk's heavy steps echoed ominously as he approached, each one resonating with the floor.

"Yes. We're likely heading into a major battle against Orcs. They'll have at least one Black Hero and possibly reinforcements from other Tier Six entities.

Without allied support, you'll be our sole Tier Six warrior. Are you up for the challenge?" Rynar asked, his concern evident.

Though a Light-Shadow Knight like Omsk was formidable, underestimating a Black Rider's fury was unwise.

"I'll need to assess our forces," Rynar added quietly, invoking the system for a detailed overview of the city's strength.

Riverguard:

Area: 1 kilometer radius

Structures: Dilapidated Lord's Castle, 200 wooden houses, Intermediate Magic Engraved Walls, Stone Well, Blacksmith Shop, Barracks, Archer Sanctuary.

Commanders: Caslow (Tier 3) Reynard (Tier 4) Radir (Tier 4) Dylan (Tier 6) Omsk (Tier 6)

Special Personnel: Lady Aivy (Tier 3) Duchess Nyx (Tier 2)

Defense Officer: Marcus (Tier 4) Civilians: 2,601 (1,136 trainable as soldiers)

Military Forces: 100 Radiance Knights (Tier 2) 700 Battanian Archers (Tier 2) 683 Rapid Infantry (Tier 2) 200 Zaltarion City Guards (Tier 2) 100 Dunwenian Swordsmen (Tier 2) 100 Zaltarion Royal Guards (Tier 3) 50 Elaris Woods Rangers (Tier 2) 8 Priests (Tier 2) 1 Fire Mage (Tier 2)

Evaluation: A lone king leading his people to reclaim their homeland. The city thrives, with its strong military ensuring safety even against small-scale invasions.

Note: The city lacks a mistress and heir, as Duchess Nyx fled her duchy to seek refuge here.

"Of course, my lance will fulfill your dream!" Omsk declared, his deep voice booming.

"Good. I've decided to send the Holy Radiance Knights and the Elaris Woods Rangers as reinforcements. Do you think this force is sufficient?" Rynar briefed him.

"We need stronger front-line fighters.

The Elves excel in ranged combat, but we're lacking in melee strength. Rapid Infantry won't cut it," Omsk replied firmly, squashing Rynar's hope of fielding those troops.

"Then what do you suggest?" Rynar asked, valuing his expertise.

"The Zaltarion Royal Guards—they're excellent. We need them," Omsk stated after assessing their options.

"Very well. Assemble them immediately. We leave in half an hour," Rynar ordered.

"I will obey, Your Majesty!" Omsk saluted, pounding his chest before leaving.
