This Was Reality

This was Aneira's first time attending a family dinner gathering. Her and Jaxton's first as husband and wife. It wasn't just any dinner; it was a formal gathering that involved both their families. When she had dated Ethan, she had longed for a moment like this, to meet his family, to be acknowledged, but he had always come up with excuses, making her wonder if he had ever intended to introduce her at all.

Now, standing beside Jaxton, stepping into the dining area, she felt multiple gazes land on her at once. A room filled with powerful people, wealthy, sophisticated, and most likely judgmental. But she refused to falter. Her posture remained poised, her chin lifted slightly. If they were expecting her to cower, they would be disappointed.
