The Hybrid

Ciara's eyes fluttered open, her gaze met with Fidel's concerned face. "I... I remember," she whispered, her voice trembling.

Fidel's grip on her hand tightened. "Remember what, my love?"

Ciara's mind reeled as she struggled to put into words the flood of memories that had overwhelmed her. "My past...my childhood. Mother Agar, you were there, taking care of me."

Mother Agar's expression softened, her eyes filling with tears. "Yes, child. I raised you as my own. I'm so sorry I had to keep the truth from you for so long."

Ciara's thoughts swirled, trying to make sense of the fragmented memories. "It was too much," she whispered, her voice cracking. "I couldn't handle it."

Fidel pulled her close, his arms enveloping her. "You don't have to handle it alone, my love. We're here for you."
