Kei furrowed his brows, recalling the results of his large-scale perception when he clashed with Dodai. At that time, the Third Raikage and his son were the first to rush toward Dodai's house.
Killer B was only slightly slower than the two.
Additionally, a few elite ninjas, upon hearing the sounds of battle, moved in the direction of Dodai's residence.
The key point was that Kei did not detect any particularly powerful individuals around Killer B. Or rather, there were no assassins who could pose a threat to him.
Then... Did the jinchūriki go berserk?
Why?
Kei was quite certain that, according to his memories, there was no record of Killer B losing control of the Eight-Tails after becoming its jinchūriki. In the original storyline, during the Third Great Ninja War, he was already able to skillfully use the power of the Eight-Tails and coordinate with the future Fourth Raikage in battle against Minato.
To reach that level, he would first need to adapt his body to the tailed beast's power. Then, he would have to triumph over the beast in their inner struggle. Finally, he would need to reach a state of mutual understanding with it. None of this could be accomplished overnight.
Even Naruto had to train under Jiraiya for three years before he could even begin to control the power of the Nine-Tails up to four tails. While the Eight-Tails wasn't as strong as the Nine-Tails, its power was still formidable.
Based on this timeline, Killer B should have at least begun adapting to the Eight-Tails' power and established some level of communication with it.
So why did he suddenly go berserk? Was he sabotaged, just like the previous jinchūriki, Blue B?
"What exactly is going on here?" The Third Raikage's face darkened. With his arms crossed over his chest, his natural aura of authority made many of the surrounding ninjas tremble slightly.
"Last night, there was nothing unusual about Killer B. He was even preparing to support Dodai. But for some reason, as soon as he stepped out, he twisted his ankle. Then, when he tried to leap onto the rooftop, he smacked his head on the eaves…"
The ANBU assigned to guard Killer B answered cautiously. Recalling the events of last night, the face behind his mask twisted into an indescribably strange expression.
Twisting his ankle was one thing. But then, when he tried to jump onto the roof, he hit his head. That could still be explained as an aftereffect of twisting his ankle. However, after landing, he staggered and fell into a sewage ditch. Before he could get up, a large piece of debris from the damaged rooftop crashed down on him, burying him deep in the muck.
All of this happened within less than three minutes. Each of these incidents was rare enough to be a topic of conversation for days, yet they all happened in quick succession.
The final result was... The Eight-Tails went berserk.
Then, after a chaotic struggle, just as the Third Raikage and others arrived, Killer B was about to lose consciousness, and the Eight-Tails suddenly, inexplicably, retracted itself.
"..."
The Third Raikage glared at the ANBU beside him.
Was this some kind of joke? Could a person really be this unlucky? And why did the Eight-Tails go berserk so suddenly, only to stop just as suddenly when he arrived? Did that even make sense? Could it be that the Eight-Tails was afraid of getting beaten?
Was that even possible?
That beast was stubborn as hell. Back then, even after an exhausting battle and ultimately being sealed, it never once admitted defeat.
I think I understand… Kei's ears perked up as he listened to the muffled conversation between the Third Raikage and his ANBU in the crater. He quietly deactivated the effect of [Battle of Misfortune].
---
[Battle of Misfortune (Black):
When activated by the host, if anyone within the perception range initiates a 1V1 challenge, the opponent will be forced to accept. All fate-related traits of both parties will be nullified, and both will be affected by the statuses Under a Cloud of Bad Luck and Cursed Misfortune. This significantly increases the probability of mistakes, illnesses, misfortune, and unexpected accidents, while also greatly raising the chances of injury and death.]
---
This entire time, the effect of [Battle of Misfortune] had been active. However, since he had never issued a 1v1 challenge to anyone, and no one had challenged him, it had never taken effect. Given the need to keep his identity hidden, he had also refrained from using large-scale perception techniques. Who would have thought...
Tsk~
Killer B actually won the bad luck lottery! That guy must have been casually bantering with the Eight-Tails in his head while preparing to assist Dodai.
And then... Disaster struck.
"Whew…"
The Third Raikage's face was as dark as it could get. He barely managed to suppress his growing irritation. He looked at Dodai, who was lying on a stretcher, followed by a group of barefooted ninjas, and asked in a deep voice.
"What was the result?"
"Nothing. The enemy has most likely fully retreated."
"Who do you suspect?"
"At first, I thought it was Konoha. After all, regardless of my personal stance, the enemy's swordsmanship and ninjutsu did match the characteristics of Konoha ninjas. But... it's not Konoha."
"Speak plainly."
The Third Raikage frowned slightly when he saw Dodai still beating around the bush. If this guy hadn't just been attacked and sustained some irreversible injuries, he would have already lost his temper.
At a time like this, couldn't he just get to the point?
"Cough cough… My home's protective barrier consists of an outer barrier and an inner barrier. There aren't many ways to infiltrate without triggering an alarm."
"And just now, the ANBU detected residual chakra traces of Water Transformation Technique completely dissipating near a broken underground water pipeline."
"The ANBU are currently tracking the source of these traces."
Noticing that his leader was running out of patience, Dodai quickly reported all the information he had.
"... Kiri?"
A cold gleam flashed in the Third Raikage's eyes as the powerful Lightning Release chakra surged violently within him. Adding this to last night's attack, this was a full-scale assassination attempt!
Aside from Dodai—who survived due to his strength—everyone else had been killed. Without his testimony, he would have first suspected Konoha, based on the traces of Water Release, Fire Release, Earth Release, and Wind Release found at the scene.
But now, the most crucial evidence pointed directly at Kiri, which he hadn't even considered before! Those obvious clues left behind might have been deliberate misdirection. And then there was Killer B's bizarre streak of misfortune, which reminded him of Blue B's sudden rampage years ago.
No clear memories, no discernible cause, and even in hindsight, no clues to be found.
Kiri!
Good! Very good! Back then, you were the ones behind Blue B's incident, weren't you? After repeated provocations, the Third Raikage's anger boiled over.
For years, Kumo had never experienced an assassination operation of this scale.
"If Kiri wants war, then war it is!"
He swept his gaze across the now-excited higher-ups around him and coldly conveyed his will. In his view, the situation was already clear.
Kiri would never admit to what they had done. Any inquiries sent today would never yield the answers he wanted.
In that case, he would let his fists speak for Kumo on the battlefield!

[S-Rank professional mission completed.]
[Detail: Alter Kumo's strategic target and provoke war with another nation]
[Rewards:
- 2 trait extraction
- 1 gifting opportunity
- 1 trait upgrading (randome white)]

As the familiar system notification sounded, Kei watched from afar as the Kumo ninjas roared in response, secretly clicking his tongue.
Just one declaration, and the system already considered the mission complete. The Third Raikage's authority must be the greatest among all Raikage in history!
And… Kiri was about to get screwed.
So many accusations being dumped on them—he wondered if they could even survive this.

I don't know if some of you have read the warnings. The important one would be: other worlds.
I'm currently at Chapter 210 right now, and we are reaching the end point of the Naruto world. If you don't like the MC traveling to other worlds, I suggest stopping now or just reading the "Naruto Arc."
Now, the MC's relationship is a bit ambiguous. It could be him teasing, but to me, it seems like OG author laying the foundation for a second FL or even a third. I could modify or remove the parts that lead to a 100% harem route. In my opinion, a bit of teasing is okay, but fully taking the harem route... Well, if you want it, and the original author really took that direction, I can just let it be.
Or if you don't like it, I'll remove it like I did with the too-Chinese elements and quotes, replacing them with better-known ones. I also toned down his excessive system bashing. I didn't like it. So, I removed excessive bashing and so on.
With him going to a different world, you'll likely draw parallels with wuxia novels' "going to a higher realm" trope. I don't think I can remove all of that, but I've made it more Western. Due to the existence of Ōtsutsuki Shibai, transcending and such elements are even plausible...
My current guess, is that with the foreshadowing I've seen, the MC will travel to different worlds, not "a higher realm" yet. My first guess is Marvel. The foreshadowing seems strong in that direction. Or I could be wrong, and you can call me out on it.
