Chapter 50:Robin Joins

Chapter 50: The Devil's Child Joins the Nexus Pirates

The Nexus Pirates had set sail from God Valley, leaving behind the desolate battlefield of history. With their destination set for Nico Robin's location, Jason wasted no time and immediately initiated another round of training for his crew. While they traveled, he focused on strengthening his newer crew members, particularly Monet and Sugar, who had immense potential but needed refinement.

Training Monet & Sugar

On the ship's training deck, Monet stood across from Jason, her Logia Snow-Snow Fruit powers allowing her to control and transform into snow at will. However, while she was strong, Jason knew she had yet to awaken her Devil Fruit.

Jason crossed his arms and looked at Monet. "Your ability is strong, but it lacks versatility. Against stronger opponents, you'll need more than just turning into snow—you need to create a domain where you control the battlefield."

Monet nodded seriously, adjusting her stance. Jason activated his Advanced Observation Haki, predicting her next moves. "Attack me," he ordered.

Monet shot forward, creating a snowstorm around Jason, trying to limit his vision. Then, she sent ice spears flying toward him, attempting to pin him down.

Jason smirked and dodged effortlessly, using Soru to close the distance. Before she could react, he appeared behind her and tapped her shoulder. "Too slow."

Monet gasped, realizing that despite her attacks, Jason had evaded them with ease.

"Your snow abilities can do more than just offense," Jason said. "Try changing the terrain—make the battlefield yours."

Monet took a deep breath and focused. The temperature plummeted as she unleashed her full power, turning the ship's training deck into an icy tundra. Frost spread across the floor, and cold winds howled.

Jason grinned. That's more like it.

Next was Sugar, whose Hobi Hobi no Mi allowed her to turn people into toys with a simple touch. However, her weakness was her physical capabilities—if an enemy was too fast, she wouldn't be able to land a hit.

L

"I don't need to train," Sugar pouted. "I can just turn people into toys."

Jason chuckled. "True, but what if your opponent is too fast for you to touch? You need speed and reaction time to land a successful hit."

Sugar folded her arms stubbornly. "Fine."

Jason had her go through speed drills, using Soru to push her reflexes. He forced her to react quickly to his movements, dodging and counterattacking. By the end of the session, Sugar was exhausted but improved, her reflexes much sharper than before.

Satisfied with their progress, Jason called for a break. "Alright, that's enough for today. We'll continue after we recruit Robin."

Arriving at the Island

Two weeks later, the Nexus Pirates' ship docked at a relatively small island where Robin's location appeared on Jason's System Map.

Standing on the deck, Jason turned to his crew. "I'll be back soon. Stay here and wait for me."

Koala, Law, Bepo, and Reiju nodded.

Jason stepped off the ship and walked toward the red dot on his map, indicating Robin's location. As he approached, he heard shouting and commotion from an inn in the center of town.

"Come out, Devil's Child, Nico Robin! We have you surrounded!"

Jason's eyes narrowed.

A group of pirates had gathered outside the inn, weapons drawn, yelling for Robin to surrender.

"She's worth 79 million beli! That's an easy bounty!" one pirate sneered.

"We can sell her to the Marines and make a fortune!" another laughed.

Jason's expression darkened. He had no patience for bounty hunters targeting his future crew members.

With a calm step forward, he released a wave of Conqueror's Haki.

BOOM!

The entire street shook as an invisible force exploded outward, crashing into the pirates like a tidal wave.

The bounty hunters froze, eyes rolling back as one by one, they collapsed, unconscious. Cracks formed in the ground, and the air itself seemed to tremble under Jason's presence.

The entire area fell silent.

Jason ignored the fallen men and stepped inside the inn.

Meeting Nico Robin

Inside the inn, Nico Robin was attempting to escape out the backdoor. However, the moment she turned, she found someone already standing in her way.

A tall, golden-eyed man with an aura unlike anything she had ever felt.

His charming smile was calm yet powerful, and his golden eyes glowed slightly in the dim light.

Robin instinctively tensed, her sense screaming at her that this man was dangerous.

Jason smiled. "Miss Robin, would you like to join my crew?"

Robin's eyes narrowed. "And why would I do that?"

Jason chuckled. "Because I can offer you what no one else can—protection, power, and the truth about the world."

Robin's breath caught.

Jason stepped closer. "I know what you seek. The Void Century, the true history hidden by the World Government. You've been running all your life, haven't you? Always being chased, always being betrayed."

Robin remained silent, her fists clenching slightly.

Jason's golden eyes gleamed. "But what if I told you that with me, you won't have to run anymore? That no one in the world can take you away from me?"

Robin studied him carefully.

She had spent her entire life on the run, hunted as the Devil's Child since she was eight years old. She had trusted people before—only to be betrayed. Could she trust him?

Jason continued. "I can see it in your eyes—you don't trust easily. That's fine. You don't have to trust me yet."

He turned slightly. "But come with me. See for yourself if what I offer is real. If you don't like what you find, you're free to leave."

Robin hesitated. This man was different from the others she had met before. He wasn't threatening her, nor was he trying to use her.

And the power he displayed outside—it was on a completely different level from any pirate or bounty hunter she had ever seen.

"…Alright," Robin finally said. "I'll come with you. For now."

Jason smiled. "A wise choice."

He turned and started walking back toward the ship. Robin followed, casting one last glance at the unconscious pirates littering the street.

This man… was dangerous.

And for the first time in a long time, she felt curious about where this might lead.

Back at the Ship

When Jason returned to the Nexus Pirates' ship, Koala, Law, Bepo, and Reiju were already waiting.

Law raised an eyebrow at Robin. "So, she agreed?"

Jason nodded. "She's with us now."

Robin glanced at the crew, her gaze briefly settling on Law—someone she had heard of before.

Koala smiled. "Welcome aboard, Robin!"

Robin gave a small nod.

Jason turned to his crew. "We're heading to our next location."

Koala saluted. "Aye, Captain!"

With that, the Nexus Pirates set sail once again, their next adventure just beginning.
