Chapter 265 War Creation

"Lord Sunan."

In the guest hall, Tanner bowed respectfully to Sunan.

"No need for formalities, take a seat," Sunan gestured toward the sofa opposite him.

Tanner followed the instruction, his gaze briefly sizing up Sunan as a faint sigh escaped his mind.

During the war between the Star Alliance and the Obsidian Throne, Tanner happened to be visiting the Starlight Continent. By coincidence, he witnessed the entire conflict unfold and was deeply shaken by what he saw.

He hadn't known beforehand about the Obsidian Throne's invasion. When he discovered Yuxi leading the Wolf Tide Plane and five wizard towers to attack, he secretly felt sorry for the Star Alliance.

To him, the Alliance's growth to its current strength was remarkable, but facing the infamously ruthless Obsidian Throne of the multiverse, it seemed destined to be wiped out entirely.

But the ensuing events shattered his expectations.

The Star Alliance's aerial magic fleets, dragons, and medium-sized wizard tower displayed power that far exceeded his predictions.

From start to finish, the Star Alliance firmly held the upper hand.

In the end, it was the Obsidian Throne's forces that suffered defeat. Their leader, Yuxi, was forced to abandon five wizard towers and retreat in disgrace.

Sunan even pursued them directly into their plane.

Although Tanner didn't witness what happened afterward, the Star Alliance's open invasion of the enemy plane left little doubt that the Obsidian Throne wizards had met a grim end.

Tanner was astounded. Despite deploying five wizard towers and an entire plane's resources, the Obsidian Throne had lost!

It was then Tanner realized he had drastically underestimated the Star Alliance.

This newfound understanding only deepened his respect for Sunan as he sat across from him.

"Lord Sunan, you summoned me—how can I assist you?" Tanner asked nervously.

Sunan smiled warmly. "It's not an order; I just need a favor. Naturally, it will be compensated."

Tanner subtly relaxed, a genuine smile forming on his face. "Please, let me know how I can help. If it's within my abilities, I won't refuse."

"You're familiar with the City of All Things, correct?"

"The City of All Things? Yes, quite familiar. I stop there after every plane exploration for rest. In many ways, it's like a transit hub and recovery point for us traveling wizards."

"Perfect." Sunan smiled faintly. "I want to visit the City of All Things. Can I ask you to act as my guide?"

Tanner blinked in surprise, not expecting this to be Sunan's request.

However, he quickly recovered and agreed without hesitation.

"Of course. It would be an honor to assist Lord Sunan."

"Consider this your advance payment."

Sunan waved his hand, and five bottles of construction potions floated to Tanner.

Tanner's smile grew more sincere. "Thank you, Lord Sunan."

Being paid with five construction potions for a simple guiding task felt almost too good to be true.

After Tanner left, Lize emerged from the back.

"Why Tanner as your guide?" she asked, her curiosity evident.

Sunan smirked. "For a Tier 1 wizard to explore the Shadow Realm freely and even escape the jaws of a Night Shadow Worm, Tanner has to be resourceful. Travelers like him often have connections to the City of All Things. He's a perfect fit."

Sunan had only visited the City of All Things a few times in his previous life and wasn't deeply familiar with it. This time, besides purchasing the Purity Soul Flower, he intended to explore the renowned neutral city thoroughly. Having a knowledgeable guide would make things much easier.

Lize seemed thoughtful but didn't press further.

"You should come with me," Sunan suddenly said.

Lize hesitated. "In my current state, it might not be appropriate."

"Once we find the Purity Soul Flower, you can immediately reconstruct your body."

Lize's expression shifted, her hesitation giving way to determination. After a brief pause, she nodded in agreement.

With plans for the trip finalized, Sunan returned to the top level of the wizard tower.

The Dusk Valley nest was secured, and the Wolf Tide Plane no longer required his attention—it was now Lize's responsibility.

This freed Sunan to focus on personal priorities.

Cultivation, spell study, and upgrading his magical artifacts were ongoing necessities. But there were also other tasks requiring his direct involvement.

For example, repairing the wizard towers.

The repair of the four small wizard towers seized from the Obsidian Throne had been assigned to others.

However, since Star Alliance wizards were inexperienced in handling wizard towers, the repairs would take considerable time.

The medium-sized wizard tower, being more complex, required Sunan's personal expertise.

Additionally, upgrades for the Starlight Wizard Tower were overdue.

Lize had already purchased blueprints for plasma cannons and pulse cannons from the Codex of Wisdom. Sunan planned to craft, enhance, and integrate these weapons into the tower to boost its ranged combat capabilities.

Blueprints for Shadow Steel Golems and Adamantine Golems had also been acquired.

Both were genuine wizard-level constructs, with the Adamantine Golem boasting combat power comparable to a Tier 2 Vaporized Wizard.

Sunan intended to modify and enchant these designs before adding them to the Starlight Wizard Tower's golem army, further strengthening its combat effectiveness.

Other areas also required upgrades and modifications.

With the Codex of Wisdom now serving as a resource hub, Sunan was confident he could elevate the Starlight Wizard Tower to a large-scale facility in the near future.

Finally, there was the matter of researching war fortresses.

During the recent war, the flying magic ships proved effective against wolf packs and standard golem armies.

However, they struggled significantly against wizard towers.

Even a small wizard tower outclassed a fleet of magic ships in combat.

Magic ships often relied on sheer numbers and sacrificial tactics when facing wizard towers.

In the last battle, nearly 60% of the fleet was destroyed, yet not a single wizard tower was taken down.

Without Sunan's intervention with the Starlight Wizard Tower, it was unlikely even a single wizard tower would have fallen, even at the cost of the entire fleet.

Developing a new war construct more powerful than the flying magic ships had become a necessity.

Other wizard factions had already created such constructs—Deep Blue Alliance's mobile citadels, Starry Bell Tower's God-Hunter Peaks, and Obsidian Throne's Bone Marauders, to name a few.

While detailed blueprints for these constructs were closely guarded secrets, Sunan's knowledge of their designs gave him a foundation to work from.

Standing on the shoulders of these predecessors, he was confident he could develop a war construct unique to the Star Alliance.

"The cost of wizard towers is simply too high. Even with the shortcut of synthesizing lower-tier magic stones into higher-tier ones, manufacturing wizard towers remains challenging.

"To ensure readiness, building a batch of war fortresses should take priority. Wizard towers can be gradually accum

ulated over time."

Sunan's gaze sharpened as he began planning the next stage of the Star Alliance's evolution. (To be continued)
