"Is this the fragment of the Deathlord's corpse?"
Su Nan gazed intently at the swamp below, his eyes deep with thought.
The cyan-green swamp water was thick and viscous, constantly bubbling with green smoke, and spread across an area roughly a hundred square meters. Amidst the scattered sands, it appeared disturbingly out of place.
At the center of the swamp, a small piece of grayish-white flesh, about the size of a thumb, floated.
Even from a distance, Su Nan could still feel the intense energy fluctuations emanating from the fragment.
Around the swamp, the ground was littered with the corpses of over twenty divine beings, along with thousands of puppet remains.
Just this small fragment of divine corpse had transformed into dozens of divine beings, a clear testament to the terrifying strength and infectious nature of divine entities.
Su Nan raised his hand, casting his Mage Hand to reach for the grayish-white fragment, intending to lift it from the swamp.
But before the Mage Hand could touch the fragment, it was quickly corroded by the green smoke rising from the swamp.
"The corrosion is quite strong," Su Nan raised an eyebrow and thought for a moment. A surge of silver liquid metal flowed from his palm, forming a massive hand to reach for the fragment.
The silver hand passed through the swamp without issue. However, as soon as it touched the grayish-white fragment, the area where the hand made contact rapidly corroded, and the entire hand began to shrink at a slow yet visible pace.
Su Nan was forced to release more liquid metal to maintain the shape of the silver hand and successfully extracted the fragment.
"This level of corrosiveness means that any being below the Wizard level would be infected and turned into a toxic monster just by getting too close."
"Even a First-Level Wizard would likely struggle to keep this thing near them for long."
If such a small fragment of a divine corpse was this dangerous, it's unimaginable how terrifying the full divine body's corrosive power would be.
"It seems that I'll need to create a special container for it," Su Nan muttered.
He decided to return to the Wizard Tower to study the fragment's properties further and develop a proper container.
However, upon returning to the Wizard Tower, he found Cyril waiting for him.
"It looks like your progress is going well, you've found a divine corpse fragment already," Cyril observed, his eyes lighting up as he noticed the silver liquid sphere floating beside Su Nan.
With his spiritual power, Cyril could easily sense the concentrated divine energy inside.
"Perfect, I've brought a special container to store the divine corpse fragments."
Cyril threw a ring toward Su Nan, which floated toward him.
Su Nan caught it and examined it closely.
The ring was ancient in design, with intricate and dense engravings covering its surface, giving off a sense of stillness.
"This is the Forbidden God Ring, created by the Star Spirit Clocktower. It can suppress the leakage of divine power and essence," Cyril explained.
Su Nan nodded in understanding.
Among the many wizard factions, the Star Spirit Clocktower was perhaps the most dedicated to hunting gods. In fact, nearly a third of the gods slain by wizards were killed by the Star Spirit Clocktower.
It was said that the founder of the Star Spirit Clocktower had his home plane destroyed by a god, and vowed to hunt down gods for the rest of his life. This led to the creation of the Clocktower, which focused primarily on god-slaying.
Most of the spells, magical items, and golems designed to fight gods were invented by wizards from the Star Spirit Clocktower.
Su Nan placed the grayish-white fragment into the Forbidden God Ring, and the corrosive energy that surrounded it instantly vanished.
He withdrew the liquid metal and nodded at Cyril.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
Cyril hesitated for a moment but eventually gave up on persuading Su Nan to hand over the divine corpse fragment to the Wisdom Codex. It was clear that Su Nan wasn't planning to do so, likely preferring to keep the fragment for his own research.
In truth, most affiliated organizations would make the same choice. After all, opportunities to study divine corpses were rare.
"How's your progress?" Su Nan asked, changing the subject.
Cyril smiled. "Pretty smoothly. We've already made some progress. After all, the forces we sent into the Crystal Plane are substantial, and we have True Spirit descendants leading the way."
"True Spirit descendants? Which one?"
"Roning Ward."
"How is he related to Darus Ward?"
Cyril gave Su Nan a surprised glance, not expecting him to know Lord Darus.
Darus was one of the most low-profile scholars in the Wisdom Codex. Many of the affiliated organizations didn't even know of his existence, yet Su Nan was clearly aware of him.
"Roning is Lord Darus's son," Cyril replied, a touch of envy in his voice. "He was already a Third-Level Crystallized Wizard a hundred years ago and is considered one of the most talented wizards in the Wisdom Codex with the greatest potential to become a True Spirit Wizard."
Su Nan's eyes flickered. "Which other wizard factions have True Spirit descendants leading them?"
Cyril smirked. "Oh, plenty. The Deep Blue Alliance, the Star Spirit Clocktower, the Abyssal Throne, the Bloodline Jungle… All large wizard factions are led by True Spirit descendants. Apart from them, other factions like the Pale Mask, the Sea King Whale, the Ten Thousand Birds, the Rainbow City, and the Black Sorcery Tower are also led by True Spirit descendants."
At this point, Cyril shot Su Nan a peculiar look and hesitated, asking, "I heard that you killed Makaro from the Black Sorcery Tower in the City of All Things. Is that true?"
Su Nan admitted calmly, "Yes, that's true."
Cyril clicked his tongue in surprise but wasn't particularly shocked. He had witnessed the terrifying power of Su Nan's third talent ability combined with alchemical markings. Although Makaro was a powerful Third-Level Wizard, he stood no chance against such an attack.
What puzzled Cyril, though, was how Makaro hadn't managed to escape.
"Be careful, though. The Black Sorcery Tower is notorious for holding grudges. You killed one of their promising Third-Level Wizards; they won't let it go easily."
"Normally, they'd hesitate to act openly, but in the Crystal Plane, they won't hold back. I suspect they'll target the Star Alliance."
Su Nan's expression remained calm. "Thanks for the warning. I'll be cautious."
Seeing that Su Nan appeared to have a plan, Cyril didn't say anything more. After exchanging a few pleasantries, he took his leave.
But after flying a short distance, Cyril couldn't help but glance back at the busy Golem Legion, a hint of confusion in his eyes.
"Doesn't the Star Alliance have a rather large army?"
After a brief moment of thought, Cyril shook his head and dismissed the notion before continuing on his way.
Once Cyril had left, Su Nan turned to Lize and gave instructions. "Locate the positions of the other wizard factions, then send out Red-Eyed Ravens to monitor their movements, especially the Dark Wizard factions."
Lize nodded and then asked, "Did Cyril bring any news?"
Su Nan didn't hide anything and recounted the situation with the Black Sorcery Tower.
Upon hearing this, Lize nodded in understanding but didn't seem overly concerned.
If this were any other time, the Black Sorcery Tower would likely have the upper hand over the Star Alliance. However, the current circumstances were very different.
In the Crystal Plane, aside from the large wizard factions, the Star Alliance had little to fear.
After giving his orders, Su Nan entered the laboratory, activated the isolation enchantment, and began studying the divine corpse fragment.
In the world of wizards, divine corpses were a highly valuable and versatile resource.
Extracting divine essence to cultivate divine beings was a given. They were also frequently used to create potions, magical items, and golems.
For example, the Divine Body Golem.
The Divine Body Golem was a type of flesh golem.
Flesh golems were originally one of the lowest-tier golems, but the creator of the Divine Body Golem took a different approach, using a divine corpse as the base and fusing various rare materials to create the Divine Body Golem.
In addition to its indestructible body and immunity to all spells below Sixth Level, the Divine Body Golem could wield some divine power, making it the strongest war machine under a True Spirit Wizard.
Even against True Spirit Wizards, the Divine Body Golem could hold its own.
If made with a mid-level or high-level divine corpse, the golem could even contend with a True Spirit Wizard.
It was widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements in golem creation.
Only legendary constructs like the Magic-Powered Constructs could compare to the Divine Body Golem.
Apart from these, some wizards had tried using divine corpses to modify their bodies, but due to the high contamination from divine power, very few practical results had been achieved.
After three days of studying the fragment, Su Nan had thoroughly examined it and compiled his findings. He then wasted no time in draining the divine energy from the fragment.
Though divine energy wasn't scarce, Su Nan believed in taking every opportunity to gather resources.
After all, the Wisdom Codex hadn't required the divine fragments to retain any divine energy.
Time flew by quickly.
Over a month had passed since entering the Crystal Plane.
With the Star Alliance's relentless search efforts, five more fragments of divine corpses were found, in addition to the first one, making the total about the size of a palm.
However, after this, the search speed slowed dramatically.
This was mainly due to the increased chances of encountering other wizard factions as the search area expanded.
In the past few days, the Star Alliance had encountered other wizard factions three times in the wilderness. However, both sides had exercised restraint, narrowly avoiding conflict.
Su Nan was well aware that this was only temporary.
Once the remaining divine corpse fragments were found, and their numbers dwindled, the wizard factions would inevitably resort to force to compete for the fragments.
At that point, true chaos would begin.
Having just finished his meditation, Su Nan opened his eyes and received a message from Lize. He made his way to the council hall.
Lize and the others were already gathered, intently watching a floating screen in the air.
Upon seeing Su Nan, Lize spoke. "You're just in time. The Red-Eyed Ravens have detected a battle between the Deep Blue Alliance and the Spirit of the Wild. I've sent a wizard to observe, and we've received footage of the battlefield. I think we should observe the power of large wizard factions in battle."
Su Nan raised an eyebrow in surprise. He hadn't expected the Deep Blue Alliance and the Spirit of the Wild to clash so soon.
It seemed they had both found large pieces of divine corpse fragments and were unwilling to let go, leading to a battle.
Approaching the screen, Su Nan focused his gaze.
The footage was clear, showing a battlefield from an aerial angle, capturing most of the conflict.
The vast battlefield was filled with millions of creatures locked in a chaotic struggle, including human knights, golem puppets, and countless bizarre creatures.
Some of these creatures were alchemical beasts from wizard laboratories, some were native species from affiliated planes, and others were slave soldiers purchased from the slave market.
There were also many strange beasts resembling prehistoric monsters, with tusks and claws.
Su Nan even saw a giant bird, its body surrounded by hundreds of wisps of black smoke, battling a giant dragon with equal ferocity.
"Is that an ancient beast cultivated by the Spirit of the Wild?" Su Nan's gaze sharpened.
The Spirit of the Wild was known for its skill in cultivating beasts, similar to the Ten Thousand Birds, but they were quite different in many ways.
The Spirit of the Wild not only excelled at breeding beasts but was also far more aggressive, often hunting ancient beasts and even raiding other wizards to steal rare beasts they had bred.
In fact, the Spirit of the Wild had often captured wizards to use in their experiments, attempting to merge humans with beasts to create new lifeforms.
Such radical methods had made them highly despised by many wizards, which is why they were classified as a Dark Wizard faction.
When compared to the experiments Su Nan had conducted, the Spirit of the Wild's actions were far more extreme.
Shaking his head, Su Nan turned his attention back to the screen.
Thousands of different species were locked in a brutal battle—truly a war of all races!
On such a plane battlefield, knights and great knights were little more than cannon fodder, and only Legendary Knights could be considered the backbone of the forces.
The military strength of both sides in the footage was impressive, with a significant portion of the fighters being at the Legendary level.
There were also many at the Wizard level.
Just from watching the footage, Su Nan estimated that the number of Wizard-level fighters on the battlefield exceeded three thousand.
"The entire Star Alliance only has just over a thousand Wizard-level fighters combined."
"Yet this is only a fraction of the total strength of the Deep Blue Alliance and Spirit of the Wild. The depth of the large wizard factions is truly formidable. The Star Alliance still has a long way to go."
Su Nan couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. He looked up at the sky above the battlefield.
There, countless war constructs and wizard towers floated, though far fewer in number than on the ground, their combat intensity was no less than that below.
One side had deployed hundreds of towering giant spires, all ocean
blue in color. While these towers were slightly smaller than the small wizard towers, they were still colossal.
Moving Spires!
