"You!" Martha barked, a sneer on her face. "What did that girl give you to defend her like this?"
"In this house, as long as you're a maid, you should address her as Ms. Rose! Do you think you have the right to refer to her as 'that girl'?"
Even if Rosemary didn't give her a penny, she'd still stand up for her. Not for anything else, just because she liked Rosemary's personality and the way she carried herself, unlike Serena, who was all pretense and just plain annoying.
"Serena used to treat you really well," Martha reminded her while striding down the corridor, her gaze fixed ahead, a smile playing on her lips.
"And Ms. Rose has been really good to you too; how have you repaid her?"
