CHAPTER FORTY-NINE
Rage burned in his veins. This was all a setup—meant to delay him, keep him away from something more important.
He gritted his teeth, shoving the man aside before pulling out his phone with blood-stained fingers.
He dialed Damian.
"Boss?"
"It was a fucking trap." His voice was deadly calm. "They wanted me out of the way. Any updates on the weapons?"
Silence. Then—
"No. And now I don't like this at all."
Neither did Xavier.
His ribs ached. His fists were sore. Blood dripped from a gash on his arm. And he had nothing to show for it.
A cold fury settled inside him. Whoever was behind this—whoever had his weapons—
