Chapter 122: Kurisu Cries

Tears began to well up in Kurisu's eyes, but she held them back, not wanting to appear weak. Anger at herself, guilt, and sadness mixed into one.

"I'm sorry..." Kurisu whispered with a trembling voice. Then, more loudly, Kurisu added, "Thank you. Thank you so much."

The woman smiled faintly, although her eyes were filled with tension. "There's no need to apologize, Miss Kurisu. I should be the one thanking you. You have given us a place, protection, and hope. Now it's my turn to repay that."

Kurisu had no choice but to continue her journey. With heavy steps, Kurisu led her group away, leaving the woman behind. Each step felt like a dagger piercing Kurisu's heart.

Meanwhile, the woman began to prepare her traps. With quick and practiced movements, she threw Explosive Paper in all directions, sticking it to trees and the ground around the forest.

The woman knew she couldn't possibly win, but that didn't matter. Her task was to buy time for Kurisu and the others to escape, and she would do that by any means necessary.

As the sound of footsteps from the pursuers grew closer, the woman took a deep breath and gripped the kunai in her hand tightly. "Come on, bring it on," the woman murmured with a bitter smile.

"Hey, look at this! There's a foolish woman who thinks she can hold us all off by herself!" one man, a Bounty Hunter working for the Black Market, said mockingly while laughing loudly.

"Wow, don't rush to attack this woman! Look how beautiful she is. I want to try her body first," another man added with a lewd grin.

"Hehehe, that woman is indeed beautiful! Those breasts... look how those big breasts sway! Don't hurt her stomach, I want her ass!" another voice chimed in, met with disgusting laughter from the group.

"You bunch of ass-loving bastards! Hahaha!" another man interjected.

"Hehehe, then I'll use that woman's mouth! That mouth is perfect!"

A burst of filthy laughter filled the air as they continued to approach the woman. But the woman, one of Kurisu's group, showed no signs of fear. She stood firm, her face serious. Her steps were steady as she walked toward the pursuers.

One of the men finally shouted, "Enough joking! Just attack the woman! Finish her off quickly!"

The battle began. The woman fought with all her strength, but the number and abilities of her opponents were overwhelming. Blood began to flow from her wounds, her clothes were torn, and her body was covered in bruises. Yet the woman continued to hold on, showing no signs of surrender.

Until finally, when one man stepped closer to her with a lustful smile, the woman smiled slightly—a smile that was not a sign of fear, but of victory.

In a soft yet firm voice, the woman said, "Miss Kurisu... I hope you find a man worthy of you..."

Those words became her last. Moments later, all the Explosive Paper that the woman had set up around the area activated.

"BOOOM!"

A tremendous explosion shook the air, destroying everything around it. Flames and debris from the trees flew, enveloping the screams of the Bounty Hunters who couldn't escape in time.
