DIVORCE

After finishing his call, Yu Jun finally rang the doorbell.

When the door opened, Bai Qing stood inside.

She had just finished showering, her face still pale.

"I bought wontons," Yu Jun said, a little unsure of how to react to Bai Qing's expression.

People who've experienced the same trauma often feel awkward when they meet.

"Thank you," Bai Qing stepped back, allowing him to enter.

Yu Jun walked to the table and placed the wontons down. "They're still hot. Eat."

"Yu Qi's working the night shift," Bai Qing pursed her lips. "I never expected her to become a nurse, it's really admirable."

Yu Jun paused. "It's nothing to boast about. There are many nurses more impressive than her."

Bai Qing shook her head. "She's truly remarkable, especially after what happened."

"How have you been?" Yu Jun's voice was hoarse.

"I'm alright," Bai Qing sat down.

Yu Jun fished a pack of cigarettes from his pocket.

Bai Qing hesitated. "Yu Jun, could you not smoke inside?"

"Sorry," Yu Jun said, embarrassed.

He was too nervous.

Bai Qing ate the wontons slowly. "Thank you for saving me."

"Don't go out so late again," Yu Jun's voice was low, tinged with concern. "Even if it's urgent, find someone to accompany you. Don't go alone."

"Mm," Bai Qing nodded.

"I called a man named Zhao Teng for you, but I didn't tell him you were here. I wanted to ask you first," Yu Jun's gaze was deep and unreadable. "Do you need me to have him come over?"

"No need, I'll head back once it's light," Bai Qing shook her head.

"Alright," Yu Jun nodded.

He glanced at Bai Qing.

There was so much he wanted to say.

But he held back.

What right did he have now to interfere in her affairs?

Her marital status clearly stated "married," yet that man, Zhao Teng, was not her husband.

Was her marriage causing her that much pain?

Was that why she had chosen "ruin"?

Knock knock!

Suddenly, a knock echoed from outside.

Yu Jun and Bai Qing exchanged a glance.

"Is it Yu Qi?" Bai Qing asked in surprise.

"She won't be off until noon," Yu Jun said as he went to open the door.

The door opened to reveal a man in a black trench coat, strikingly handsome and exuding an air of cold arrogance.

Yu Jun vaguely remembered this face—too handsome to be of this world.

Mo Xiao.

President of the Mo Corporation, head of the Mo family.

And Bai Qing's husband.

"Yu Jun, who is it?" Bai Qing walked over.

When she saw Mo Xiao, she froze.

He found her quickly.

She had known that once Zhao Teng was contacted, Mo Xiao's arrival would be inevitable.

Mo Xiao's narrow eyes gazed icily at Bai Qing.

She was dressed in a pink cartoon hoodie and gray sweatpants, her black hair tied into a bun, exuding both innocence and freshness.

She was twenty-three but still looked like a fresh-faced college girl of eighteen, full of youth.

Rage surged through Mo Xiao.

She dared to stay in another man's home!

Did she not realize how dangerous the world outside was?

"Come home with me," Mo Xiao's voice was cold and low.

"How did you find me?" Bai Qing's tone was devoid of warmth. "You could've just sent Zhao Teng to pick me up. Why bother coming yourself?"

In his eyes, she held so little importance.

She had long stopped hoping for any concern from him.

Mo Xiao didn't like the way she looked at him, nor the tone she used with him.

He approached Bai Qing.

His presence was overwhelmingly oppressive.

Bai Qing, frightened, backed up, bumping into the table.

"Careful!" Yu Jun's worry was evident.

Mo Xiao grabbed Bai Qing's wrist, pulling her into his arms. In a low voice, he said, "Bai Qing, dealing with a mere policeman is child's play for me. Are you sure you want to argue with me here?"

Bai Qing stiffened.

Mo Xiao was threatening her again.

He knew all too well that she had a soft heart.

And he used that to his advantage, leveraging anyone he could to pressure her.

"I'll go with you," Bai Qing lowered her head.

Yu Jun had saved her, and she was grateful.

But she couldn't bring trouble to Yu Jun.

Yu Qi only had Yu Jun left.

She couldn't drag the two siblings into this.

Yu Jun looked at Bai Qing with concern. "Bai Qing, if you don't want to go back…"

"I'm going," Bai Qing avoided his gaze.

Yu Jun had always been sensitive, able to detect any subtle change in the emotions of those around him.

"Thank you, Mr. Yu, for saving her. A generous reward will follow," Mo Xiao said coolly.

"No need," Yu Jun refused. "I didn't save her for any reward."

"Hmph, someone like you, an orphan taken in by a family that doesn't care for you, if you had money, they'd treat you differently. So, you should just accept it," Mo Xiao's arrogance was palpable.

"Mo Xiao, that's enough," Bai Qing was furious.

What right did he have to mock Yu Jun like that?

Mo Xiao looked down at the petite woman standing a head shorter than him. It was the first time she had gotten angry at him over another man.

The more she defended Yu Jun, the angrier he became.

What kind of relationship did she have with this man that she was protecting him like this?

Bai Qing found Mo Xiao unreasonable, especially after he had left her on the street, almost leading her into danger.

She bit her lip and walked away without looking back.

Mo Xiao's face darkened. She was actually angry!

He followed her outside.

They stopped in front of the car.

"Bai Qing, are you really giving me attitude over another man?" Mo Xiao's handsome face was twisted with fury.

"I'm not doing it for another man, Mo Xiao. Do you have any idea what would have happened to me if it weren't for Yu Jun?" Bai Qing's eyes brimmed with tears.

Her tears made her even more vulnerable, pitiful rather than threatening.

"I almost got assaulted! Do you understand what that means?" Bai Qing's body trembled violently. "If you were even remotely human, you wouldn't leave a woman alone on the street at night to meet your mistress. While you were wrapped up with her, did you know what I was going through?"

Mo Xiao's heart raced with panic. "I didn't do it on purpose."

"Not on purpose?" Bai Qing's tears fell. "I warned you, but you didn't care whether I lived or died. Even if I had died, you wouldn't have blinked."

"I…" Mo Xiao faltered, clearly in the wrong.

He hadn't expected that in just five minutes, she would have faced such danger.

Bai Qing wiped her tears. "Mo Xiao, you never treated me as anything important. You didn't even try to get to know me."

Mo Xiao remained silent.

"Mo Xiao, I never liked crab," Bai Qing's eyes were red. "Do you know why I eventually came to like it? Because you were the one who shelled it for me."

Mo Xiao reached out, wanting to hold her.

When she cried, it tore at him.

Bai Qing pushed his hand away. "Don't touch me! Your hands have touched Yun Qiqi, so don't touch me!"

Mo Xiao froze, his dark eyes flickering with cold light.

"Mo Xiao, the only reason I'm not divorcing you yet is because of your grandmother's health. I'm afraid it'll upset her. We can divorce now and tell her later, when the time is right. Tomorrow, let's go to the civil affairs office and end this."
