Mo Xiao frowned slightly upon seeing Yun Qiqi's message.
Mo Xiao: "We've found a matching bone marrow donor for you. Now, we're just waiting for their approval."
Yun Qiqi, surprised: "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
Mo Xiao: "I wanted to wait until they agreed before telling you."
Yun Qiqi: "Do they have any demands? Money, or maybe a house and a car?"
Mo Xiao: "It's complicated. In any case, don't worry about it. I'll handle everything."
Yun Qiqi: "Alright, Mo Xiao, I trust you."
Mo Xiao: "Rest early. I'll come over as soon as the sun rises."
Yun Qiqi: "Okay."
Mo Xiao put down the phone, his cold gaze falling on Bai Qing's delicate, pale face.
How could he possibly convince her to donate bone marrow to Yun Qiqi?
Was divorce the only way?
Mo Xiao stared at her face for a long while, suddenly realizing that spending a lifetime with Bai Qing wasn't something he entirely opposed.
But he liked Yun Qiqi more.
So, there was no other choice.
——
When Bai Qing woke up, Mo Xiao was already gone.
She stepped out of the room.
The housekeeper approached. "Ma'am, you're awake. Are you hungry? Would you like some breakfast?"
Bai Qing nodded.
"Well, go freshen up first. I'll heat something up for you," the housekeeper said considerately.
Bai Qing had a sensitive stomach and couldn't eat anything too cold.
The housekeeper understood this better than Mo Xiao.
Bai Qing turned and went to wash up.
After washing, she sat at the dining table.
Breakfast was Western-style.
However, the smell of milk made Bai Qing feel nauseous.
She covered her mouth and rushed to the bathroom.
The housekeeper was taken aback.
"Ma'am, are you alright?" the housekeeper asked worriedly.
"My stomach feels uneasy. I don't like Western breakfasts. Let's switch to Chinese," Bai Qing said calmly.
In the past, she only endured Western food for Mo Xiao's sake.
But in reality, she didn't like it at all.
She preferred hot Chinese breakfasts.
"Alright," the housekeeper nodded. "I'll make you a bowl of noodles."
"Sure," Bai Qing said as she rinsed her mouth and stepped out of the bathroom.
The housekeeper quickly prepared a bowl of noodles for her.
"Ma'am, have you been to the hospital to check on your stomach issues?" the housekeeper asked thoughtfully. "You and Mr. Mo are still young. Maybe you're just lacking experience in certain areas."
Her implication was subtle.
"Auntie, I'm not pregnant. I went to the hospital, it's just a stomach issue," Bai Qing explained.
Realizing her mistake, the housekeeper felt a bit awkward. "I'm sorry, Ma'am. It's just that your reaction looked a lot like morning sickness."
"I understand," Bai Qing smiled slightly. "But Auntie, don't tell Mo Xiao. Otherwise, he'll worry unnecessarily and insist I go to the hospital for more tests and take a bunch of medication."
"Of course," the housekeeper nodded.
"Go ahead with your work. I'll put the dishes in the sink when I'm done," Bai Qing added.
"Alright," the housekeeper said, knowing Bai Qing liked her peace and quiet. "I'll go do the laundry."
"Go ahead," Bai Qing replied.
The housekeeper finally turned and left.
Bai Qing quietly finished her noodles.
She remembered everything she and Mo Xiao had talked about.
Today, she was going to divorce him.
After breakfast, she packed the household registration and marriage certificate into her bag, then left the house.
On her way, she called Mo Xiao. "I've arrived."
"You've arrived?" Mo Xiao frowned.
"At the Civil Affairs Bureau," Bai Qing answered. "Didn't we agree to get divorced first, so you and Yun Qiqi could be together? As for your grandmother, we can tell her once she's feeling better."
"I'm busy today," Mo Xiao responded coldly.
"Then when will you be free?" Bai Qing asked softly. "Give me a definite time."
"Are you that eager to divorce me?" Mo Xiao asked, displeased.
"Aren't you the one who's eager?" Bai Qing retorted, a little angry. "Who was the one pushing me to talk to your grandmother yesterday, and now today you're saying it's me who's in a hurry."
"The divorce papers. You haven't signed them yet," Mo Xiao said coldly. "Only after you sign will the house and money I promised you take effect."
Bai Qing laughed bitterly. "Mo Xiao, do you think I married you for your money?"
"What else?" Mo Xiao's words cut deeply.
Bai Qing's heart bled. "So, in your eyes, I'm just that materialistic."
Was Bai Qing really materialistic?
Mo Xiao didn't think so.
She had never once asked him for anything.
She wanted nothing from him.
Everything she had was what he had willingly given.
Perhaps because she was so obedient and sensible.
Or maybe because she pleased him so well in bed.
Whatever it was, he simply wanted to give her the best of everything.
"Mo Xiao, I don't want anything from you. I don't even want you anymore, so why would I need your things?" Bai Qing's voice was soft but cold as she buried her face in her coat collar. "Stop wasting time and come here to finalize the divorce."
She was tired too.
Mo Xiao's expression darkened. How dare she command him?
"I'm not going!" Mo Xiao hung up the phone.
Bai Qing was speechless.
"Bai Qing?" Yu Jun was surprised to see her at the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Bai Qing froze. "Yu Jun? What are you doing here?"
"What about you?" Yu Jun asked in return.
"I came to take care of something," Bai Qing said, too embarrassed to admit she was there for a divorce.
"I'm here for work, investigating the household records of a criminal," Yu Jun explained. "Have you finished your business?"
"No," Bai Qing sighed. "Looks like I'll have to come another time."
Yu Jun hesitated. "It's almost noon. How about I treat you to lunch?"
"Sure," Bai Qing nodded. "But let me treat you this time. Thank you for saving me."
"No need to be so polite," Yu Jun smiled. "My car's over there."
"Let's go," Bai Qing replied with a gentle smile.
Yu Jun walked with her out of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
"How's your foot?" Yu Jun asked.
"Much better," Bai Qing replied. "It doesn't hurt anymore."
"That's good," Yu Jun said as he drove, his sharp jawline clearly defined. "What would you like to eat?"
"As long as it's not Western food," Bai Qing had grown averse to its coldness.
"Alright," Yu Jun found a Chinese restaurant.
He ordered a few light dishes.
Yu Jun watched her eat, his gaze tender.
She still ate like a little squirrel, just as cute as when they were kids.
"Bai Qing, what are you doing these days?" Yu Jun asked.
"Just lazing around," Bai Qing replied. "But soon that'll change."
Yu Jun pressed his lips together. "Bai Qing, I overheard yesterday... you and Mo Xiao…"
"We'll be getting divorced soon," Bai Qing said, knowing it was futile to hide anything from Yu Jun.
As a policeman, there was little he couldn't uncover with a few taps on his keyboard.
The relationship between her and Mo Xiao would be no exception.
"After your parents passed away, the Mo family took you in. I never thought you'd end up marrying Mo Xiao," Yu Jun's expression grew somber. "But why would you two divorce?"
Bai Qing was so obedient, so good.
It was a blessing to have her as a wife.
How could Mo Xiao be so blind?
The girl Yu Jun had cherished in his heart for so long—how could she be treated like this?
