Chapter Three

Lucas up to age, for a real

Man. He is tall, strong and naturally

Rebellious. He roams the countryside

helping villagers, fighting corrupt

officials and always standing up for

the weak.

"Uncle you are worrying too much.

This local thugs are nothing, and

are no match for me. Besides, I

can't standby and watch them bully

everyone as they want." Lucas

mumbling, with satisfaction in his

voice.

Without letting his voice fall to the

ground. Thomas mumbled.

Throwing his gaze fixed on him

"You are young Lucas. Strength

is not just in muscle. It's knowing

when to walk away and not fight.

From now on, I want you to stay

out of trouble."

"Okay uncle." Lucas intone.

Thomas sighs, as he watches Lucas

walk away. Yet the secret he holds about Lucas, keeps him worrying seeing that

Lucas is becoming too hard to handle.

The next day as uncle Thomas walks

through the streets, he sighted Lucas

helping a Local farmer repairing a fence.

He thought, ' today might just be a peaceful day if he stays like that till sunset' with a smirk on his face, while Shaking his head.

Reaching home, just about to open the

door, a panic voice came from behind!

"Mr. Thomas, it's Lucas. He's fighting."

Without hesitation Mr. Thomas

turns immediately, to the axis

he came from. But before he gets

there. He found four men lying

down groaning in pain.

Lucas staring at Thomas. Seeing the

disappointing look on his face,

uttered. "There hit me first!"

Mr. Thomas being furious held him

by the ear and walk home with him.

He swayed his gaze at Lucas,

without saying a word after some

seconds have gone by. He finally

uttered. "all I'm doing is for your

good and safety. The more

trouble your stare out there, the

more exposed you will be to the

danger I'm protecting you from."

He thought immediately after spilling

out such hints, been anxious.

'oh no what did I just say, this is

not going to end well! How I'm I

going to bury these words! '

"Uncle, what did you just say?

protecting me from what? "

"it's nothing, I was just worried about

our safety, what if those boys

regroup and come back in full force.

You know I'm not getting younger,

troubles like that gets me worrying

too much. And you know we have

no money in case things like that

gets out of hand." Thomas mumbling

trying to look pitiful.

Lucas seeing his uncle troubled by

his act. for a moment, every

question he thought of asking, skip

his mind as he trys to console his

Uncle. " I'm sorry, it's just that

they came to beat up that poor old

man. And I couldn't stand by and

watch him beaten."

"How about next time, you just look

up, turn around and act like you

owe no one anything! How about That?

"I will try. But not when it's on my neck." Lucas mumbled, and Walks out.

Uncle Thomas shaking his head,

thought, ' just like his father. Always

dominant doing just what he wants.

How can I even forget that, A Lion

can only birth a Lion. '

The locals always see Lucas to be

different from everyone else. Seeing

how he always stands out to defend

them from thugs, and corrupt officials

without fear, even when every other

person backs down. They also wonder

why he never holds back when double

crossed. With mixed feelings.

Admiration and fear.

One of the locals whispered "He's

a no body, but his very intimidating

and dominant."

Another one whispered "He even

officials and today He's taking down

those thugs without fear. There is something about him."

When ever he notice the looks he

gets from the people. and the

mumbling about his true identity.

His carefree life fades. And getting

the hint of what his uncle said in

their last conversation. He

quickly rush home, so furious

with desperation to get answers.

Even though he was furious.

The moment he gets home, as he

sets his gaze at his Uncle. he gets

cold, for the respect and love he

has for his uncle Thomas. cannot

be measured.

"Uncle, I have been thinking. You

never told me much about my

parents. Who were they? Why did

they leave me with you?"

Lucas calmly intoned.

Thomas caught off guide by the

question thrown at him, felt

a sense of panic rising

in him. Yet remains calm, trying to

figure out words to suppress the

question. He mumbled.

"It's complicated, Lucas. Your father

was a powerful man. But he wanted

to keep you safe."

"Safe from what? I'm not a child

anymore. I deserve to know."

Lucas wandering in his voice,

with desperation to hear every

of his question answered.

Silent follows his remark in the room,

for a while. then Thomas realizing he

needs to say something. As Lucas

fixed his gaze on him. He turns his face

bent on the ground towards

Lucas. Then uttered. "There are things

about your past that are best left in

the past, son. Trust me on this."

"Every time I ask, you dodge the

question. I'm not a fool, uncle. I

can handle the truth."
