Escape the Sect

Staring at the floating panel, Li Chen recovered from his trance and began planning how to execute the mission. Besides, he noticed that his thoughts had become clearer.

The vengeful chains around his soul had shattered to pieces.

'Is it the effect of avenging him?' he wondered but didn't dwell on it too much. Since he had avenged the previous body's owner, he felt free.

Li Chen slowly walked out of the hall, gripping his sword with a firm gaze.

"I just need to escape from this damn sect," he mused to himself.

After walking a couple of meters, he heard several miserable cries, most of them screaming for help, but he didn't bat an eye.

In the apocalypse, hiding in an ordinary room without any resources was just a pipe dream.

Thus, he steeled his resolve to kill his way out of the sect. In the distance, a zombie rushed toward him, waving its hands. Without hesitation, Li Chen swung his sword.

Whoosh!

Thud!

The sword severed the zombie's head, which rolled on the ground, while the headless body collapsed.

Taking a deep breath, he looked at the chaos in the distance and shivered. Without wasting another second, he headed toward the sect gate.

As he rushed toward the gate, he encountered two more zombies. With his earlier experience, he managed to kill them by chopping off their heads.

Just as he was nearing the gate, he heard rapid footsteps approaching.

"What the fuck!" he exclaimed inwardly.

Behind him, he saw several disciples running for their lives, screaming for help.

He was confused. What the hell was chasing them?

Confused, he increased his pace from a light jog to a full sprint.

Seeing their fellow disciple ahead, they shouted for him to wait.

"Idiots! Who would wait for you?" Li Chen sneered and pushed his speed to the limit.

Thud!

"AHHHHHH!"

Behind the fleeing disciples, a middle-aged man dressed in an outer elder's robe appeared, his head split into four sections.

In one swift motion, he devoured the head of a slow female disciple.

Watching their elder eat one of them, the disciples screamed in despair.

In panic, they scattered, fleeing in every direction, but the outer elder was incredibly fast.

In mere seconds, he had devoured five disciples, and a contented burp escaped from his jagged mouth.

As for Li Chen, the gruesome scene behind him only strengthened his resolve to escape this hellhole.

The Kunlun Sword Sect was a massive sect with thousands of disciples and a history spanning over a thousand years.

But now, this once-great sect was in chaos and couldn't withstand the arrival of the apocalypse.

Li Chen ran past the martial arena and encountered a scene that left him speechless.

Hundreds of disciples were fighting zombies, their eyes filled with bravery.

Leading the battle was a middle-aged woman in an outer sect robe.

From his memories, he recognized her. She was Elder Lan, a kind elder beloved by many outer disciples.

Elder Lan's strikes were terrifying, each one blasting zombies into pieces. However, despite her efforts, the endless wave of zombies rendered her attacks futile.

Li Chen found himself at a crossroads. He didn't want to join the battle, but it was the shortest route to the gate.

The other path would take much longer, and who knew how many zombies lurked there?

"Fuck it!" he cursed and joined the fight.

Whoosh!

He slashed his sword, cutting off a zombie's head. Instead of waiting for another, he charged forward.

Initially, the other disciples were unaware of his actions. But as he ventured deeper into the horde of zombies, everyone began to take note.

"Isn't that the trash? How is he not dead?" Ziheng sneered.

Ziheng was the most powerful outer disciple, renowned for his handsome appearance and prominent clan lineage which made him the envy of many girls.

"I guess he's just lucky," Jiao replied with equal disdain as she fought a few feet away from him.

Jiao was Ziheng's woman and always supported him. She was revered as the goddess of the outer disciples, with many boys vying for her attention.

Watching Li Chen kill zombies as if trying to prove himself, irritated her to no end.

As for Li Chen, he didn't care about them. His only goal was to leave the sect as quickly as possible.

Seeing him advance further than anyone else, Elder Lan was surprised and noticed how easily he killed the zombies.

"Everyone, target their heads!" she commanded.

Quickly, the disciples changed their strategy and began to strike at the zombies' heads.

As they found it easier to kill the zombies, a sense of pride swelled within them, and they started anticipating the rewards they would receive from the sect when this ordeal was over.

Unfortunately, they celebrated too soon.

Li Chen would have advised them to leave the sect while they still had the chance. But seeing their disdainful expressions, he decided to leave them to their fate.

Their pride still clouded their judgment in the face of the new, harsh reality.

Drenched in blood and his palms aching from continuously swinging his sword, Li Chen grimaced in annoyance.

"What a weak body!"

Simply from swinging the sword, his palms had swollen and were covered in bruises.

He wanted to rest, but the sight of the terrifying zombies' heads made him grit his teeth and continue.

Just as he was about to kill the last line of zombies in his path, he heard a miserable scream behind him. When he turned to look, what he saw left him speechless.
