Chapter 30: Setting a Trap with Vehicles

It was a method that, while slightly risky, had a high feasibility.

Leo Qin was a bit skeptical: "A trap?"

As a professional hunter, he was very familiar with traps.

So as soon as Ryan mentioned it, Leo Qin began to think about the practicality of setting one up.

But if the goal was to capture a person, then the trap couldn't be too obvious.

It would be best to use something like rope that could be hidden.

Leo Qin tentatively asked, "How about a lasso trap to hang her up?"

"I'm afraid we don't have long and sturdy enough rope for that…" Leo Qin felt it was somewhat unreliable, Candy wasn't an idiot and wouldn't step into a suspicious area.

Moreover, given Candy's strength, she could probably tear the rope apart with ease.

Leo Qin was certain: "I think making a trap won't work."

He felt a more straightforward approach would be better: "How about this, aren't you pretty accurate with your compound bow?"

His idea was simple and brutal: "Why don't I act as bait and get close to her, and you take the chance to shoot her in the head and kill her?"

Ryan rolled his eyes at him: "Where does your confidence come from that you won't get instantly killed?"

"Are you an idiot? Or are those five scavengers the idiots?" Ryan added, "And what if we kill Candy, but the blueprints are hidden away?"

"So the best method is to capture her alive." Ryan stated firmly.

Leo Qin was at a loss for words after being rebutted, he anxiously said, "Then what do you suggest? Traps are definitely unreliable."

But Ryan shook his head and replied, "I already have an idea."

He quickly responded to the message.

[Ryan: I'm still in the industrial park next to the motel, there are a lot of zombies here, so please come and save me.]

[Candy: Okay, find a more visible spot, we'll come to get you right away.]

Ryan kept checking the live map.

He noticed Candy's figure had already appeared in the corridor on the second floor.

She passed by the room where the scavengers' bodies were piled up.

Although Candy glanced inside, she showed no signs of suspicion and continued down the stairs.

Ryan let out a sigh of relief upon seeing this.

In fact, picking up the scavengers' firearms earlier was a rather reckless choice.

If Candy had discovered that there were intruders in the motel, she would have become alert, and that would have been a big problem.

Ryan believed that given the current situation.

If Candy set an ambush and launched an attack first, he and Leo Qin would definitely not be able to react in time.

However, obtaining those two makeshift shotguns had greatly increased their combat power.

Though the range of these guns was short, their close-range effectiveness was substantial.

As long as he didn't fire a shot, it would serve as a deterrent, Candy wouldn't dare to approach recklessly, giving him a better chance of survival.

So it was still worth taking a gamble.

On the live map, Ryan saw Candy's figure walking out of the motel.

"Alright, now we can start setting up the trap." Ryan said as he pulled a miniature truck out of his pocket.

Leo Qin leaned in closer and frowned involuntarily.

"Uh, what is that? Why are you pulling out a toy car?" Leo Qin looked puzzled, "Come on, man, don't joke around at a time like this!"

Ryan looked at Leo Qin speechlessly and explained, "This is the portable storage feature unlocked after upgrading the vehicle to level 2."

Ryan: "You can reduce the size and weight of the vehicle to one-thousandth of its original size."

Upon hearing this, Leo Qin's mouth dropped open in surprise.

"Wow, I can't believe it has that kind of effect!" Leo Qin asked excitedly.

He realized this was an incredibly practical feature!

At first, he had spent a lot of time looking for a safe and hidden spot to prevent his vehicle from being damaged.

But if he could carry the vehicle with him, he wouldn't have to worry about such things at all.

Plus, he could use it whenever he needed.

Leo Qin chuckled, "Hey Ryan… can you teach me how to upgrade a vehicle to level 2?"

"Well, that depends on your performance." Ryan replied with a slight smile.

He still had two level 1 vehicle cores.

And it seemed that Candy had just killed another player.

That player's vehicle was also parked in the motel's parking lot.

So, unless something unexpected happened, there should be another vehicle core there, which he could definitely give to Leo Qin.

After all, if Leo Qin followed him and kept getting the short end of the stick, he would probably start to resent him.

The blueprints for the fuel extraction station and the compound bow were also considered his losses.

In the future, he might not want to cooperate with Ryan anymore.

Ryan actually felt that this guy had quite a bit of ability.

When the time was right, he could hire him to work for him and become his assistant.

After all, Ryan wanted to build his own team.

"Wait a minute… what do the traps have to do with that car?" Leo Qin suddenly realized that Ryan seemed to have gone off-topic.

Ryan looked up at the several dead trees nearby.

He scanned among them, searching for a suitable branch height.

Soon, he spotted a good location. The branch was about two and a half meters high and of the right thickness.

Ryan pointed it out and said to Leo Qin, "You climb up and lay my car sideways on top of it."

Leo Qin was momentarily stunned.

Then he suddenly realized, and his eyes brightened.

Leo Qin: "I get it! You want Candy to walk over and then use the vehicle to crush her?"

Ryan nodded, "Yeah, this is the most reasonable plan I can think of at the moment."

This was the only reliable method available right now.

First of all, there weren't many players who had obtained vehicle cores.

So this news hadn't spread in the chatroom.

Ryan initially had Buddy collect the vehicle core to avoid attracting Candy's attention to its existence.

So this trap could catch her off guard.

If the truck fell from a height of two meters onto the muddy ground below, it shouldn't cause too much damage.

In fact, Ryan had this idea from the beginning.

But it would damage the vehicle.

So it had always been a backup plan, but Candy's strength was indeed stronger than expected.

Plus, the glass of his vehicle had been broken by the scavengers.

Anyway, whether it was repairing the windshield or fixing the damaged vehicle, both would require one vehicle core.

So there was really nothing to feel bad about.

Leo Qin carefully reached out to take the shrunk vehicle from Ryan.

He quickly climbed up the dead tree.

Following Ryan's instructions, he placed the vehicle on a branch and then carefully climbed down.

There was a hint of admiration in Leo Qin's eyes as he looked at Ryan now.

He truly acknowledged the young man.

Such a bold idea wasn't something just anyone could come up with.

In this survival game, players had to spend their days on the road, and the vehicle was essentially a second life.

If one didn't have confidence, they certainly wouldn't dare to implement such a plan.

"What do we do next? We need to lure Candy over here." Leo Qin asked.

Ryan opened the system panel, "You don't need to worry about that."

Just as he was about to send a message to Candy,

Buddy, who had been resting nearby, suddenly perked up, shaking its ears and standing alert.

Without warning, it began to bark frantically: "Woof woof woof!"

Ryan's pupils slightly constricted, he knew Buddy was usually very obedient and wouldn't bark without reason.

"Get down!" Ryan shouted.

Leo Qin reacted even faster.

He grabbed the collar of Ryan's shirt and yanked him back forcefully.

With a dull thud.

A short spear made from a steel pipe embedded itself deeply into the ground where Ryan had just been standing.

If Leo Qin hadn't pulled him, Ryan would have been seriously injured.

Ryan looked toward the source of the attack.

Not far away, on the wall, Candy's figure stood watching, seemingly having witnessed everything that had just happened.

She let out a soft huff, "Smart move, bringing a helper."

A smirk of disdain crossed Candy's lips, "But what does it matter? It's just going to attract another prey for me."
