And So, It Was Done

The world we found when we left the Carnival of the Damned was nothing like how it was when we went in. The road that we had been traveling down had completely disappeared. The live oak trees that had been on either side of the highway now looked to be more like bald cypresses, and the ground itself was covered with grass and moss.

"What the fuck," grunted Luca as he crouched down, running his hand over the grass. "Where are we?"

"You are asking me like I've ever been out of my house before the end of the world," I chuckled. We could hear the barking of a few gators as our presence surprised them as much as we had been surprised by them. "But I'm guessing still in and around O City."

"Let me go," hissed Max, reminding me that I had more pressing things to worry about than my current location, like the man who had tried to kill me.
