Always A Bright Side

The second I held the black box up to my face to study it, it let out a low sound, similar to a fog horn. Startled, I threw the box to Désiré even as the sound it was making started to get higher and higher until I could no longer hear it.

"Turn that shit off," growled Luca, narrowing his eyes at Désiré. Désiré, on the other hand, simply opened his own eyes wide and started to protest.

"I no was me," he grunted, throwing the box back at me. "'Attie was the one who picked it up in de first place."

Looking around, I tried to find a switch or anything that would turn it off. However, no matter how many times I ran my hands over the sides of the cube, I couldn't find anything.

By this point in time, my ears were ringing, I had a massive headache, and I could have sworn I was seeing sound.

"That ain't normal," grunted Ronan, covering his ears as he glared at the box.
