Tank and I were waiting in the middle of the room for Eric to finish, and I was starting to get tired. It had already been a long day, and I was more than ready for bed.
"You'll get to sleep soon enough," murmured Eric as he pulled me into his arms. I was so tired that I didn't actually bother to fight his hold. Instead, I nodded my head and leaned more fully against his chest as he walked us to the second checkpoint.
Just like at the gates, the door opened just enough for us to go through single file, and the second we were all through, the doors slammed behind us, locking us into another room.
This one was more like an interview room with a balcony at each corner. Two men, a sniper, and a spotter, stood on each balcony, their eyes all trained on us.
"Ronan would be bitching," I murmured softly, and Tank sneezed out a laugh. "What's the point of being a sniper if you couldn't do it lying down?"
