Chapter 61

Immediately Eleanor's body crumpled to the floor, Alexander's heart stopped for a moment.

"Eleanor!" he shouted, rushing towards her and dropping to his knees beside her. He shook her gently, his voice frantic. "Eleanor, wake up! Please!"

But she didn't respond. Her face was pale, and her body was limp.

Panic surged through Alexander as he quickly stood up, grabbed a pair of joggers and a white polo shirt, and threw them on in haste.

Linda, equally alarmed, scrambled out of bed, grabbing her discarded lingerie and slipping it on hurriedly.

"What do we do, Alex?" she asked, her voice shaky.

"Get dressed and leave," Alexander snapped, his tone sharp with urgency. He didn't even look at her as he scooped Eleanor's unconscious body into his arms.

Linda hesitated, watching him carry Eleanor down the stairs. She followed quickly, pulling on her dress and grabbing her heels.
