Excruciating Pain (2)

She immediately spread her wings, then flapped them as hard as she could, trying to lift them off the ground and avoid crashing. The pain was unbearable, and she couldn't help but scream out in agony.

Her breath became erratic, and beads of sweat formed on her forehead.

Maybe it was her scream that finally caused Lucian to open his eyes. He looked around in confusion, moving his head from side to side, not understanding why he was suddenly in the middle of nowhere.

When he tilted his head upward, his eyes landed on Medeia, who was in a terrible state, struggling to flap her wings.

Wings?

Lucian opened his eyes widely. "Medeia, you—"

Medeia cut him off, unable to bear the pain any longer. "Lucian, help …" Her voice was filled with desperation and pain, that it made Lucian snap out of his daze.
