Ashley lowered her gaze slightly. The two women who had just lied stood on either side of Mabel.
Seeing the smug smile on Mabel's face, Ashley instantly realized that this was a trap set by Mabel.
"I was pushed just now and lost my balance, which is why I bumped into Miss Nelson. I didn't mean to," Ashley explained.
One of the women who had lied earlier scoffed, "Some nerve. We clearly saw it, and you still want to deny it? Of course, with President Andrews backing you up, you can try to get away with it, but it leaves a bad taste in our mouths. Don't think I don't know—you're just jealous that Miss Nelson is prettier than you. You're ugly and envious of every girl who looks better than you."
Someone in the crowd murmured, "Tsk, that's really scary. She's ugly and jealous of others."
"I never thought President Andrews' wife could be so terrifying. We better stay away from her."
