The Wrong Puddle

I leaped back, narrowly avoiding the beast's massive claws as it swung down, tearing through the earth where I'd been standing.

I backpedaled even further, running towards a group of students before immediately starting sprinting left.

"No-" Aria, seeing what had happened, raised her sword, but it was too late.

The monster lunged, tearing through the group of students like paper. The others screamed, scattering in panic.

I hesitated, the chaos overwhelming me, but then Seylith grabbed my arm. "How could you, you bastard? Those were your fellow students!"

I didn't respond; instead, I yanked my arm away and looked at the scene in front of me.

Something was wrong.

I mentally spoke before a sudden strange feeling took over my body.

Hadn't I said the same thing before, once… twice, maybe?
