There is always a huge gap between the rich and the wealthy, while many people might not know this, the difference is always clear to the eyes.
And that is why, when discussing the top wealthiest families in the country, the Whytes are always mentioned.
The business world is currently in a turmoil due to the inflation, and high cost of production causing many small companies to fold up.
Some merged up, just to survive the critical moment but just a few seemed unbothered by the madness going on around and among them is the Whyte.
A black sleek car drove up to the entrance of the company, a slender leg adorned by a stilettos gently slid out the opened car door.
A tall figure slowly alights from the car, a knee-length beige gown and a small clutch bag complete her outfit.
On her face was a not so welcoming expression, her unsmiling eyes and slightly arched eyebrows with natural colored lips would have been very attractive if not for her snappy mood.
"Good morning ma'am" a petite secretary approached and greeted her in a polite manner.
The mood in the company today was bad already and she does not wish to annoy her boss any further.
"Is everyone here already?" She asked, walking briskly inside the entrance.
"They are all waiting for you at the conference room" The secretary responded following close behind.
They hadn't walked far from the entrance when another car parked just where she was a few minutes ago.
Hearing the sound Jasmine instinctively turned around and the black tinted windows of the black Maybach made her frown slightly.
A man dropped from the car, he looked every inch as exquisite as the car.
His tall figure was clad in a suit and a pair of leather shoes
With neat hair slicked back from his forehead and a set of eyes that looks like they were made from coffee.
He approached her and stopped a few inches away before nodding slightly towards her.
"Good morning Miss Jasmine, I would love to discuss some business with you in private".
Still stuck on the goodlooking the man is, Jasmine took a minute to give a response.
"I have a board meeting now, and who are you to begin with?". She asked, in part curiosity.
Smiling a bit, he gave a curt response with his hands tucked in his pocket.
"I'm Jordan Lewis".
After the brief introduction, Jasmine stares at him with a frown on her face.
He was a rival, a huge one at that.
What does he want?.
"I am here with a business proposal," Jordan informed her, meeting her eyes.
Although Jasmine thought herself tall, she still had to look up at him and that really annoys her.
"Let's talk in my office"
"Rachel, tell them I will be there in ten minutes".
~
Inside her office, Jasmine offered him a seat before settling down behind her desk.
The blue and gray design of the room was pleasing to the eyes and told nothing about the personality of the owner of the room.
"As you can tell already, I have people waiting for me urgently.
So what business proposal have you brought sir" Jasmine asked with a forced smile.
"I want to marry you," he replied.
"Excuse me, what?!"
"I decided to go straight to the point since you have a pending meeting".
"That does not explain why you said that".
"I wanted to make it a lot easier for both of us, since our parents are discussing our marriage.
You know what season it is now in the business world.
We don't have to do that but our parents are adamant, I am not here to propose to you but just to inform you".
He continued and Jasmine got more irritated.
It was enough that she had spared him a few minutes out of her time, it's more annoying that he is saying nonsense.
"So if you don't have anything to say, I will like to take my leave"
Nodding absentmindedly, Jasmine watches him leave with her lips tightly pressed together.
Picking up her phone, she instructs Rachel to cancel the meeting immediately.
Jasmine drove home at a crazy speed, to her surprise a meeting seems to be going on at home too.
Seated around the table was her grandfather, her father and a man she hadn't seen before.
Ignoring them, she storms inside the house in search of her mother.
"Sis, you are home!" Her younger sister peeps out of her room in excitement.
"Where is mother?" Jasmine asked scowling.
"What is the issue?"
The voice made Jasmine turn around and she approached her mother with silent accusations.
"Do you know about this?"
"About what?
What are you talking about?"
"I don't know what your husband is thinking about but I have no intention of getting married to any member of that family" Jasmine spat angrily.
"That is no way to speak about your father" An elderly masculine voice intercepted their conversation, making both of them turn to the old man standing at the end of the hallway.
"You both should come down, let's discuss this properly"
He turned around back to the direction of the stairs, a walking cane in hand.
"You both should sit down," the early man instructed.
The old man is the father of Sir Whyte, the only one remaining in the older generation of the family.
His eyes were hard as steel showing he is advanced in years, many of the family members believed Jasmine took after him in her mannerism.
But unknown to many of them is that the grandfather and daughter duo are not fond of each other.
"The Lewis family has extended an intention to call truce to all of our past enmities and to end it all we are establishing a marriage relationship.
When we become relatives, it becomes
difficult to fight each other any longer.
So, Jasmine and Jordan of Lewis will get married after proper preparations.
None of you should argue about it because I was the one that suggested it".
"I am not going to marry someone that was my past enemy," Jasmine said stubbornly at the end of her Grandfather's speech.
"That's all I have to say".
Ignoring her, the old man proceeds to leave the gathering.
