Lunar Wolves

In a towering skyscraper at the heart of Rain City stood the headquarters of the Black Rose Guild, ranked eighth among the beast guilds in the city. Inside a spacious lounge, a woman with striking features and sharp eyes gazed toward the city's towering walls. Even from this distance, she could sense the energy waves radiating from a Diamond-ranked beast. This woman was Meng Lin, a young lady who had fled from the Meng family in a Tier 4 city.

Meng Lin had arrived in Rain City about three months ago and established the Black Rose Guild. With the wealth and determination she carried, she managed to gather numerous skilled beast tamers, particularly powerful women, to join her guild. In just three months, she had propelled the guild into the top ten of the city's rankings.

A man's voice suddenly broke the silence. "Leader, are you sure the city will be safe?"

Meng Lin turned to look at the man. The light in the room reflected off her flawless face, her long, jet-black hair cascading down to her waist. She exuded an aura of authority and grace. A small smile appeared on her lips as she spoke in a gentle voice.

"You don't need to worry about the city, Ye Feng."

Ye Feng, a man who had awakened an F-rank talent, looked at her with concern. "But what about ordinary civilians? Will they be safe?"

Meng Lin let out a soft laugh, her smile widening. "I've already sent people to protect them. You don't need to worry."

Hearing her response, Ye Feng sighed in relief. Before he could say anything else, Li Juan, Gu Tian's adoptive sister and a member of the guild, spoke up.

"Big Brother Ye, I want to play with the little wolf again!"

Ye Feng smiled and summoned a young Moon Wolf, a beast cub he had received from Li Juan not long ago.

Meng Lin watched him and found herself reminiscing. Several months ago, she had met Ye Feng for the first time at the Star Commerce Pavilion. It was an encounter she would never forget. At the time, she had almost been scammed into buying high-tier materials at an unrealistically low price. Ye Feng, who happened to be there, had carefully examined the materials and helped her avoid being taken advantage of.

Though it had been an oversight in the Star Commerce Pavilion's valuation, Meng Lin had not held a grudge. The Star Commerce Pavilion's power was immense, and even her own faction preferred not to create trouble with them. With their sincere apology, the matter had been settled peacefully.

After that event, Meng Lin ran into Ye Feng more frequently. Over time, she came to appreciate his abilities and kind heart. He also had a way of attracting talented people around him. Eventually, after they grew closer, she decided to invite him to join the Black Rose Guild. Although the guild's rules stated that only women could join, Ye Feng had been granted a special exception.

As the atmosphere in the room remained relaxed, an unexpected explosion shattered the calm. One of Meng Lin's bodyguards had summoned a beast and launched an attack toward the window. The deafening blast made everyone in the room turn sharply toward the source of the commotion.

Boom!

The windowpane shattered into countless shards, and the force of the explosion sent a gust of wind howling through the room.

"What the hell!?" Ye Feng shouted as he instinctively shielded Li Juan and the young Moon Wolf.

The detonation and the smoke it produced engulfed the upper floors of the building, obscuring everything from view. The powerful impact sent shockwaves through the area, startling the civilians nearby. Many bystanders pulled out their phones, recording the unfolding chaos, completely forgetting about the distant howls of the Moon Wolves from earlier.

From within the thick cloud of smoke, a woman's voice rang out, laced with amusement. "My, my... such an aggressive welcome."

The tension in the building skyrocketed. Seven Emerald-ranked bodyguards and hundreds of Black Rose Guild members who had been alerted rushed to the scene. The entire headquarters was now on high alert.

Li Juan, hearing the voice from within the smoke, froze in shock. Her mind instantly recalled a memory from the past.

A steaming bowl of purple soup, emitting an ominous, pungent smell with wisps of eerie green vapor floating above it.

The moment that image resurfaced in her mind, she instantly knew who the voice belonged to. "Guang Yue!" she muttered, her voice filled with anger.

Guang Yue, the wife of Gu Long, was not only a key figure in the Star Commerce Pavilion's Rain City branch but also one of the thirteen six-star chefs in the entire Beast Alliance.

As the smoke gradually dispersed, Guang Yue's figure emerged, hovering in midair in a flowing black robe. She had a faint smile on her lips, but her eyes carried a chilling coldness.

Li Juan trembled slightly, fear creeping up her spine. Without hesitation, she gestured to the others and shouted, "Attack! Take her down!"

At her command, the roars of countless beasts echoed throughout the building.

Meng Lin, stunned by the sudden escalation, turned toward her people, attempting to stop them. But before she could speak, an overwhelming pressure filled the air.

A surge of powerful energy erupted as an Emerald-ranked beast charged directly at Guang Yue. A furious voice rang out.

"You dare lay a hand on the Meng family's young mistress!?"

Guang Yue merely smiled. She remained still, unfazed by the impending attack.

"What do you mean, lay a hand on her?" Her voice was calm. "I'm simply here to arrest a criminal."

At the walls of Rain City

Standing atop the towering city walls, the guards on duty wore expressions of fear as they gazed at the overwhelming pack of wolves surrounding the city. The sheer number of them made the guards feel as if they were staring death in the face.

Meanwhile, high above the clouds, an elderly woman in a gray cloak watched the scene below with a bored expression. She muttered to herself, "As expected of a Tier 3 city… utterly weak. Look at those guards, they're merely Gold-ranked."

A massive black wolf standing below lifted its head and let out a thunderous howl. Its cold voice echoed across the city.

"Return my children to me, humans."

The sheer force of its voice sent shockwaves across the city, pressing down on everyone below. Those weaker than Gold rank collapsed to the ground, unable to withstand the pressure.

But just then, a man's voice interrupted the tense silence.

"Could you describe what your children look like… Little Black?"

In an instant, the oppressive aura from the black wolf vanished. The guards who had collapsed slowly pushed themselves up, glancing toward the two figures hovering above the city wall.

They immediately called out, "Greetings, City Lord and Former City Lord!"

High above the city, floating among the clouds

The elderly woman in the gray cloak narrowed her eyes as she observed the two men standing on the city wall below. She muttered to herself, "That aura… it's strange. Has Gu Mo broken through to the King level?"

The black wolf, standing some distance away, spoke in a cold tone.

"Who are you calling Little Black!?"

Gu Mo descended, landing gracefully on the city wall, and chuckled before responding in a nonchalant manner.

"I wasn't talking to anyone in particular. If someone wants the name, they're free to take it. I don't mind."

His words only fueled the black wolf's fury. It roared in anger before lunging forward, its voice filled with rage.

"Filthy human! Die!"

Gu Mo's expression remained indifferent.

"Weak."

Without hesitation, he summoned a beast.

"Go! Demon-Faced White Tiger!"

A deafening roar erupted as the Demon-Faced White Tiger appeared, its presence sending a chilling aura across the battlefield. The sheer force of its energy made the surrounding area feel as though it was being swallowed by an icy abyss. It let out a resounding roar, clashing with the charging black wolf.

The black wolf immediately leaped in front of its kin, barking an order.

"Weaklings, fall back!"

The Moon Wolf pack behind it quickly retreated at its command. Then, the black wolf lifted its head and howled into the sky before shouting.

"You all, come out! Stop wasting time!"

A chilling laugh echoed from the distance.

"Heehee… I hope you keep your promise. I want a million humans. Don't forget."

Another voice followed.

"I want a million as well. Don't forget our deal, Little Black."

High above the battlefield, the figures of seven more beasts gradually emerged. Each one radiated a terrifying aura. Every single one of them was at the peak of Diamond rank.

The guards standing on the city walls trembled as they beheld the fearsome creatures.

One of the guards whispered in a trembling voice, "That's… the Silver Iron Dragon, the Wind Envoy, and the Infernal Boar…"

Another murmured in despair, "And over there… the Black Earth Serpent, the Six-Armed Ape, the Light Striped Zebra, and the Thunder Hawk…"

"Are we going to die?"

The guards were gripped by terror, yet the elite forces of the family's secret unit remained unfazed.

While chaos spread among the defenders, Gu Long, who stood atop the wall, merely smiled.

"Just as that little rascal predicted… though not all of them showed up," he mused. "Well, I guess it's time to get to work."

The next moment, Gu Long vanished in the blink of an eye.

The surrounding beasts erupted into laughter.

"Look! He ran away in fear!" one of them mocked.

"Humans are truly pathetic," another sneered.

Up in the clouds, the elderly woman observing the battle furrowed her brows in confusion. But before she could react, a sharp pain suddenly spread throughout her body.

A sickening crunch echoed.

She tried to look down, only to see a hand piercing through her chest, gripping her heart. The hand clenched, and in an instant, her heart was crushed to pieces.

Gu Long's voice was calm as he spoke.

"Li Ting, a Diamond-ranked beast tamer… one of the people who helped Meng Lin escape from her family. For my son's plan to succeed, you'll have to make a small sacrifice."

He wiped the blood off his hand without emotion before shifting his gaze toward the retreating Moon Wolf pack.

"First, I'll head to their den."

Without hesitation, Gu Long summoned the Pure Thunder Dragon.

The massive dragon's body crackled with golden lightning as it soared into the sky. Gu Long leaped onto its back, and in an instant, they vanished into the distance, moving at blinding speed.

As they flew, the dragon unleashed a barrage of golden lightning upon the Moon Wolves below. Within moments, the entire pack was reduced to nothing but charred remains.
