Hundreds of men, gone in mere breaths. The ground was soaked in blood, and the pungent smell of death hung heavily in the air. A'xuan, who had never witnessed such carnage, was utterly overwhelmed by the scene before him. 

"You dared summon them to kill us? Did you think I'd let you live?" Mu Chen said coldly. His piercing gaze, like twin icy blades, froze A'xuan in his tracks. Without even lifting a finger, a layer of frost encased A'xuan, who collapsed lifelessly to the ground, his life extinguished in an instant. 

Even Xiaobai and Xiaoqing, seasoned snake demons, were shaken by the display. A single look had sealed A'xuan's fate. Not even their revered master, the Snake Mother, could wield such terrifying power. 

"Xiaobai," Mu Chen called softly.

Still stunned, Xiaobai felt herself pulled into Mu Chen's embrace. 

"Do you still doubt me now?" he whispered.

Xiaobai didn't reply but turned slowly to face Mu Chen. She gazed deeply into his eyes before throwing her arms around him in a heartfelt embrace. 

"Take me to meet your master," Mu Chen said suddenly.

"You want to meet my master?" Xiaobai asked, startled as she pulled back.

"No way!" Xiaoqing interjected. "Our master harbors deep hatred for humans. She always says humans are inherently treacherous. If you go to the Snake Cavern, it'll be a death sentence!"

Xiaoqing's tone was firm. Though her previous biases against humans had softened due to Mu Chen's actions, she still doubted his ability to survive an encounter with the Snake Mother.

"Even a bride must meet her in-laws," Mu Chen said confidently. "Trust me, if I dare to go, I'm prepared. I want to stay by Xiaobai's side, so I won't take unnecessary risks."

"Are you sure about this?" Xiaobai asked hesitantly, her eyes filled with worry.

"I am," Mu Chen nodded firmly.

"Alright," Xiaobai relented.

In the southwest of China, nestled among its many mountain ranges, lay the famed Ten Thousand Great Mountains. For centuries, these mountains had been a haven of peace and natural beauty. However, the imperial court's demand for snake captures, driven by the National Advisor's quest to create an elixir of immortality, had shattered the tranquility. 

About a month ago, a captured snake demon revealed the existence of a vast Snake Cavern, hidden within the mountains, home to thousands of snake demons. The National Advisor, seizing the opportunity, led his army southward, plunging the region into chaos. 

"The National Advisor's forces are closing in. We need to return to the Snake Cavern quickly," Xiaobai urged.

"How much farther?" Mu Chen asked.

"There—just ahead." Xiaobai pointed to a dark cave nestled in the mountainside. 

The cave's entrance was modest, about ten square meters in size. But once inside, the cavern opened up into a labyrinthine network of vast spaces and winding paths. Without Xiaobai's guidance, one could easily get lost.

As the Snake Mother conversed with her disciples, the space before her rippled. From it stepped Mu Chen, Xiaobai, and Xiaoqing.

The Snake Cavern erupted in gasps of shock. The gathered snake demons glared at Mu Chen, encircling him with hostility.

"Xiaobai, how dare you bring a human to our sacred cavern!" the Snake Mother roared.

"I knew it! Xiaobai has betrayed us!" a snake demon shouted.

"She's colluded with humans. Kill her and Xiaoqing!"

The atmosphere grew tense as the snake demons clamored for blood.

"Enough!" the Snake Mother silenced the crowd with a sharp command, her expression grim. She turned to Xiaobai and Xiaoqing, her voice laden with accusation. "You've returned—so, do you have anything to say for yourselves?"

"Calm down," Mu Chen interjected, his gaze sweeping over the crowd. "You all claim they've betrayed you. Where's your evidence?"

"They're consorting with you! That's evidence enough!" one snake demon spat.

"And you smell like foxes. Should I accuse you of conspiring with fox demons?" Mu Chen retorted with a sneer.

"You—" The snake demon stammered, angered but unable to counter Mu Chen's sharp wit.

"Silence," the Snake Mother ordered. Her piercing gaze landed on Mu Chen, scrutinizing him carefully. Despite being a human, he stood unfazed among the snake demons. His earlier display of spatial manipulation suggested he was no ordinary man but a highly skilled cultivator. 

"Human, why are you here?" the Snake Mother asked coldly.

"A bride must meet her in-laws. Since Xiaobai has no parents, it's only right for me to meet her master," Mu Chen replied.

"Very well," the Snake Mother said, her eyes gleaming with cunning. "If you wish to prove Xiaobai and Xiaoqing's innocence, I'll give you a chance. Kill the National Advisor."

"The National Advisor?" Mu Chen's eyes narrowed.

"Are you afraid?" the Snake Mother taunted.

"Afraid? Never," Mu Chen replied coolly.

The Snake Mother smirked inwardly. While she despised humans, she had no qualms about using them as pawns. Once the National Advisor was dead, she'd have the perfect excuse to eliminate Mu Chen without guilt.

Turning to Xiaobai, Mu Chen took her hand, his voice steady. "For you, I'd storm the heavens, let alone kill a mere National Advisor."
