On the way back to the room with Shihe, He Kui was discussing today's events with her.
"Yulis still can't be fully trusted."
Shihe softly leaned against the young man and reminded him.
"I know, she can't interfere with my plans."
"Mm."
As the two chatted, they returned to the room and saw Sulei and Meyrin deep in discussion about something.
Upon seeing them return, Meyrin quickly averted her gaze.
"What are you teaching Meyrin this time?"
He Kui asked Sulei with a smile at the corner of his mouth.
It seemed that recently, Sulei had become a bit addicted to playing around, always coming back with some mischievous ideas.
He Kui welcomed this wholeheartedly, as it added some interest while also potentially enhancing their combat abilities, which was quite nice.
"I'm not teaching her anything~ Just something I did yesterday that Meyrin was curious about."
Sulei said, her pink tongue swirling around her lips.
The implication was clear.
Upon hearing Sulei's words, Meyrin shyly lowered her gaze and nodded, acknowledging it.
He Kui felt a warmth in his heart but still coughed lightly and said to Meyrin, "There's no need to force yourself with such things."
"No, no, I'm not forcing myself."
Fearing that He Kui might misunderstand Sulei, Meyrin quickly shook her head.
"Meyrin said it looks like I'm eating something really delicious~"
Sulei teased.
This time, Meyrin didn't respond; she was so shy that she directly hugged He Kui tightly, her flushed face buried deep in his embrace, like a timid little deer.
"Since Meyrin wants to give it a try, I need to wash up first," He Kui joked while holding the girl close.
"I'll do it~"
Sulei volunteered, raising her hand and leading Meyrin straight to the bathroom.
In this scene, Meyrin didn't resist; instead, she felt a sense of belonging, as if she had finally found her place.
After a pleasant and deep exchange, He Kui stayed awake until late at night and returned to the radar room.
At this time, the train had traveled for several hours at high speed, reaching Ottawa, and then they transferred to a passenger plane, finally arriving in Great Falls, Montana.
Just as He Kui had learned before, this town still had a small population, as it was known for its low rainfall and abundant sunshine, once hailed as the most suitable place to live.
In simple terms, there were many wealthy people.
"Where are we going?"
To outsiders, they looked like a pair of ordinary brothers, with the little girl affectionately holding her brother's hand.
Compared to Mexico, everything in Montana felt like paradise to the girls.
The clear sky and the lush green vegetation, with automatic sprinklers on every patch of greenery.
Their energy was abundant enough to power such relatively unimportant facilities.
Even though the original rulers had become Coordinators and moved away, the dragon slayers would only turn into evil dragons.
There were no fairy tales in the world, nor would there be any changes.
Seeing the scene before him as nothing unusual, He Kui walked down the street with Yulis. Most of the passersby wore frowns, showing no interest in appreciating the sunshine around them.
"These rich people look even sadder than those in Mexico City," Yulis said softly.
"The more you have, the more you fear losing it," He Kui replied succinctly, not paying attention to the thoughtful expression on Yulis's face as they entered the local branch of the Waste Merchants' Guild.
"Hello, what can I help you with?" the clerk said as she stood up upon hearing the door open.
"I need two pieces of ultra-strong anti-light beam material," He Kui said calmly.
"Sorry, we don't have that here. Anti-light beam materials haven't been produced," the clerk replied with a casual smile.
"Then I want to go to space."
Though the two statements seemed disconnected, the clerk, upon hearing this, took out a tiny storage device the size of a bean from a hidden compartment in the counter, along with a heavy box.
"This is it," the clerk said respectfully.
"Okay."
Without lingering, He Kui left the shop.
"Is this what you needed?" Yulis, having followed He Kui for a while, was no longer as afraid of him; instead, she curiously leaned in to examine the storage device and the box.
"Not quite."
He Kui shook his head, placing the data into his wristband. He quickly understood the full scope of the situation.
In simple terms, the person holding the intelligence had been missing for a week, last seen at La Flaga's estate, and then vanished without a trace.
If he was discovered, then naturally the intelligence would be lost, but there was still a possibility he was evading capture, and another possibility was that he hid the intelligence before being killed.
Regardless of which scenario it was, they had to start investigating from the beginning.
Without speaking, He Kui led Yulis into an empty row house for sale by the roadside.
Watching He Kui unlock the door as if he were returning home, Yulis felt her resolve to follow him strengthen.
This person, in terms of both power and means, resembled a Coordinator.
In fact, he was even stronger than the Coordinators she had seen before.
As someone who was most opposed to Coordinators, Yulis felt no fear; instead, she felt a hint of excitement.
In her view, as long as she could escape her current life, it didn't matter whether it was a Coordinator or a natural person.
Of course, she wasn't naive enough to think she would serve He Kui; although her choices were limited, she was also observing him.
"Are you going to make weapons, brother?"
Putting aside her unusual feelings, Yulis looked at the pile of parts taken from the box on the table and asked innocently.
"Do you recognize them?"
The items were still in parts, and Yulis could tell they were impressive. Given that she had completed the tasks he assigned her exceptionally well, it was clear she had B-level strength and even the potential to advance to A-level.
"I recognize them; we need to have an eye for treasure to pick it out from a pile of junk," Yulis nodded.
"Can you assemble them?"
After sending the little bird out to keep watch, He Kui began to process the parts with Aegis.
These parts included two multifunctional rifles paired with a grenade launcher, sufficient for use.
"First time, I can't."
"But I can learn it after watching once!"
Hearing that He Kui seemed willing to teach her, a big smile spread across Yulis's face.
