Chapter 2: The Orphanage's Secrets

Breakfast was a simple affair: porridge and bread. Raven listened as the other children laughed and shared stories, but he felt a little out of place.

"What do you think happens outside the orphanage?" Elara asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"I've read stories about magical creatures and brave heroes," Raven said, a hint of nostalgia in his voice. "Do you think they're real?"

"I hope so," Elara replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "There are rumors of monsters in the forest nearby. Some say demons come out at night!"

"Demons?" Raven's interest was piqued. He couldn't help but feel the threat from them because of his cautious nature but the at the ame time he imd the adventures he could have, but he quickly brushed the thoughts aside. He needed to focus on understanding this world first.

After breakfast, he ventured into the small courtyard outside. He found a secluded corner away from human eyes and practiced the minor wind manipulation—he could feel the wind tugging at him, almost as if it were alive. As he focuses he could feel little torrents of wind on his palm he focused on the leaves few meters away on the ground and tried to blow them away but he could only slightly move them after some time of trying to push them through his wind manipulation he felt himself getting drained of something something that he didn't feel ever before mana. As he didn't inherit any memories of this body unlike in many novels he used to read.

"Skill Upgrade: Minor Wind Manipulation has reached Rank E."

After around 30 minutes of doing the leaf blowing. He got a notification

"is this for real. Did my skill upgraded just from the little stupid actions of blowing leaves ?" Raven whispered to himself, exhilaration coursing through him. His focus sharpened, and he envisioned a small gust of wind swirling around his fingers.

"Hey! What are you doing?" Elara's voice broke his concentration. She approached eyes wide with wonder. Raven quickly re gained his composure. And thought of what to do.

"I... I was just playing with the leaves ," Raven admitted, his cheeks flushing.

"What are you a child " She laughed at him like she had heard the most entertaining joke.

Raven gave back her an embarrassed smile.

"Let's go we can eat lunch and then we can play together I also don't have any other people who I can play with".looks like she misunderstood that i was here because I didn't have anyone to play with. Good cover up for me Raven inwardly sighed.

After a few hours of putting up an act while playing with elara Raven came back to a corner in the garden in the orphanage and opened his system plate and tried to get information from the system " What are the abilities of the system".

After a brief moment

A sound rang in his head " The sole purpose of the system is serving it's host once it's bound until the end . The only ability that can be excessed as of now is limitless evolution in all aspects of existence. "

Raven was amused at the mention of limitless as it was a broken word.

After that Raven tried to extract a few more pieces of information but as expected there were many restrictions on the information provided by the system as it wasn't it's purpose in the first place.

Raven remembered about the stories of demons and monsters and with that lit up a spark for strength needed for survival. He decided he will do his best to be able to protect himself and those he wants to protect if a need arises
