Chapter 9: Shadows and Secrets

Aarohi stared out at the city from the penthouse suite, the dim lights glinting off the river below. The hostile encounter with her father’s family left her shaken, but their warning about Salvatore Greco lingered, like a poison spreading in her mind.

Her phone buzzed as she turned to check on Yatharv, who was still asleep on the plush hotel bed. She picked it up cautiously, her heartbeat spiking when she saw the number: Unknown. Her thumb hesitated, then tapped on the message.

“You’re digging in places you don’t belong. Take your hands off Greco’s affairs—or we’ll take the boy. Consider this your last warning.”

Aarohi felt her blood turn cold, but her gaze steeled. They wanted her to retreat, to give up the investigation, but she knew better than to back down. Every instinct in her screamed that this was no idle threat; these people wouldn’t hesitate to follow through.
