Having been the one to discover the apple tree first and to report its transformation, Admetos was the one who ended up with the golden apple that Hye had been given. That was his reward—yet in his anxious mind, it felt like a test as well.

And, in truth, Hye was curious to learn what effects something created directly by such a strange creature—apparently born of his own blood—might have. But a test? That idea never crossed his mind.

Seated in one of the few arenas still usable, Admetos stared at the objects before him: a folded piece of paper and the golden apple.

“Hm, but what if it’s dangerous…?” he muttered, glancing at the enormous tree whose glow was still visible even in daylight. “Maybe it’s even poisonous. And yet he wants me to eat this thing without even knowing what could happen.”
