I bring out the toy box from the gift bag, still examining it in utter bewilderment.

He stops working on his laptop and looks at me.

“Did I do something wrong?”
I knock myself back on track.
“You got a wooden puzzle?”
Unable to keep it civil, I cackle, laughing my ass out and sniffing all through. Setting them on the table, I gawk at the more pink pieces with a mix of other colors.
“It has a toy… it's a toy.” He stutters.
“Oh, my god.” I seal my lips in my palms and resume laughing. “You'll make a bad father.” I don't go easy on him.
“That bad?”
He stops working fully and just looks from the puzzle pieces on the table, and back at me.
“Horrible.”
I chuckle.
“Jeez.” I pause. “Who would it to you?”
