Chapter Forry-Three: One Step Away From Danger

Avery’s POV

“I want Doctor Cain to run my checkups here.”

My words are specific like I have a certain right to demand it.

“What?”

Thane stops typing away on his tablet for a moment and just stares at me with scrutiny.

“I no longer want to go to the hospital.” I rephrase. “So, I need Doctor Cain to visit here instead.”

He squints.

“Is this some sort of joke?”

“No.” I don't show any sign of repentance.

“Why can't you go to the clinic?”

“It makes me sick.” I lie unreasonably. “I just want a change of environment.”

He giggles and surprisingly picks up his remote.

“Are you even listening to me?” I grumble.

“It's odd that you're not even listening to yourself as well, and expect a better reaction.”

“Thane, I'm serious.” I don't back out.

Still, he's acting unbothered.

“You'd do that for me if you love your child as you claim.”

Knowing he keeps threatening me with the said child, it's only ideal that I use that in my favor. Right?
