Chapter Forty-Nine: Spill The Bean

Avery’s POV

“Really, Piper?”

I exhale, itching my forehead with the tip of my fingers.

“I'm sorry, Avery, seriously.” She pleads for the umpteenth time.

“You got me worried sick, I thought he had you.”

I heave a sigh. This is approximately forty-eight hours since I've been trying to reach her after Orion called, and she just shows up now.

“I've been trying to settle in the new environment and make the best of this spontaneous choice, Avery.”

“Still.” I protest. “It doesn't stop you from taking calls and texts…”

“Okay, I'm sorry, Avery, good now?” She stops me from ranting further.

“Besides, I felt strange, like I was being trailed.” She adds. “I had to lay low and try my best to go undetected.”

Sitting up in bed, I pause, a bit scared.

“Really?”

“Yeah, and I feel he has the need to revenge what I did… Perhaps I'm just overthinking it.”

“Just maybe,” I mumble, still feeling scared to my bones.
