Chapter Sixty-nine: The Awkward Bargain.

Avery’s POV

“I'll be gone in a few days.”

Thane informs me as he pulls closer.

He is dressed in cooperate wear, showing he is obviously going on a business trip.

“Really?”

I pout, suppressing a frown.

“You don't have to act rough.”

He says, setting his briefcase on the chair, and taking me in his arms.

“The feeling is mutual.”

He says as if it will make me feel any better.

“How long?”

I whimper like a baby.

Gently, I rock myself in his bosom, my belly caressing the soft fabric of his suit.

“Frankly, it might take up to a week.”

He replies bluntly.

“Argh.”

I toss my head backward, almost getting pissed at his response. This makes me feel even worse like my emotions tumbled down the drain.

“Hey, come on,”

He holds the back of my head and pulls me to himself. Locking eyes with mine, he caresses my cheek with the back of his palm.

“It will be over before you know it.”

He tries to pacify me.
