Avery’s POV
“Are you avoiding me?”
Piper’s tone is a bit flat and bland as she speaks from the other side of the phone.
Ignorant of my current state, I puff, and fan my wide eyes with my fingers. I'm on the verge of just giving up, and it's a wonder that I'm still pulling through.
Almost due for delivery, and having to battle with hypertension, now this… It's a miracle that I'm up and about.
Perhaps Thane is my source of strength.
Our genuine bond and connection of late doesn't just keep me going, but the fear of breaking the same man I made.
That alone would kill me.
“Avery?”
Piper calls out for the hundredth time when she notices that I'm quite distant even though I'm now on the phone with her.
“I'm sorry.”
I muffle soft words and rub my eyes lazily.
“You see, you're acting weird.”
She hastily concludes.
