Orion’s POV
“You'll do as I say, or you count your losses, and for a start, it will be your life.”
I don't drop my shirt, as I let Piper get a good view of my gun. It will be what ends her, and I'll make sure of it.
She freezes, with her eyelids happening to be the only thing in her body that has a will of their own.
“Or-ion.”
She stammers, fidgeting terribly.
“No, lady.”
I stop her from saying my name.
“If you ever say my name from those filthy lips, I'll be forced to change my mind and drive a bullet through that hole, blowing your brains off too.”
“I'm sorry.”
She panics, still trembling.
“Now, here's what we'll do.”
Quietly, I tell her my rules for my game.
“You'll act like nothing is happening, like we're some good old fellow ready to link up.”
I flash her a fake smile, and she picks up, wearing one, even though too frozen to pass off for it.
