Suddenly Raelyn stood up. Jake did the same. "I know what you're thinking," she told him. "And I'm not going with you" she added. "Raelyn coming with me is your best option right now," she told her.
"I don't think it is" she replied. "There are more out there by the hour," she told them. "And I can hear all of them" she added. "You can't help them Raelyn" Jake told her. "But I can," she told him. Suddenly Raelyn threw her arm up and Jake went flying to the side hitting his shoulder off the building. "Don't follow me" she told him. Raelyn walked out of the alley and past the task force that waited outside the alley for Jake. They didn't even notice as Raelyn slipped past them and into the crowd walking the streets.
Jake got up and ran out of the alley looking around. "Where is she?" Jake asked turning to one of his subordinates. "We didn't even see her sir" the subordinate replied. "Dammit, pack up we're heading back to HQ," he told him.
Fuck I can't believe I just did that. Raelyn thought to herself. He's right how the hell am I supposed to help anyone? She continued to think as she walked down the street. That was when she heard it.
An explosion suddenly came from behind her forcing her to duck to the ground covering her head. Screams surrounded her as Raelyn stood up and turned around as she was pushed by people running away from the explosion.
Raelyn ran. But not in the direction everyone else was. She ran towards where the explosion came from. When she finally reached it police, firefighters, and paramedics were already on scene.
"Miss you can't be here," a police officer told her. "What happened?" She asked desperately "We don't know but as of right now the area is not safe for civilians you have to go," he told her. Suddenly she heard a rumble from above her. "Get out of the way" she heard people yell to her and the officer as they as a piece of the building fall towards them the officer pushed her out of the way and Raelyn landed on the ground and rolled a few feet before stopping herself and throwing her arm into the air, using her power to stop the large piece of the building before it crushed the officer.
The officer looked at her then at the giant piece of concrete then back to her. "Get out of the way I can't hold it much longer," Raelyn told him as the piece of concrete seemed to grow heavier by the second a firefighter quickly pulled him out of the way Raelyn dropped the concrete on the ground.
Raelyn let out a heavy breath as she dropped her arm to the ground. Suddenly the cop that she had just saved appeared in front of her along with a few firefighters. "Your an unwanted?" The officer questioned looking down at her. "Yeah," she said slightly nervous as she looked up at him. The officer suddenly held out his hand to help her up. "You saved my life," he said. "Thank you" he added. Raelyn took his hand and pulled herself up. "You saved me first" she replied.
"There are a lot of large rocks and rubble we think people may be buried under do you think you can help?" A firefighter asked. Raelyn took a second and looked around. "Yeah I think I can," she told them.
"Take me to the most critical spots first I'll do what I can," she told him and he gave her a nod. She couldn't believe it. Instead of ridiculing her, they asked for her assistance. Maybe this was a way to get the unwanted on the good side of the people. She thought to herself.
Raelyn stopped in front of a pile of rubble. Considering the damage she could only assume this was where the explosion was. Raelyn closed her eyes.
"What is she doing?" A firefighter whispered "concentrating" an officer replied. Raelyn smiled. There were survivors. Raelyn concentrated on the broken building. Suddenly small pieces began to move into the air. One by one moving out of the way ever so gently. Then larger pieces began to move.
These were more difficult. They were heavier. But the longer those people remained buried the less air they would have. Finally, survivors were able to be seen and taken out of the rubble.
It had been a few hours now of Raelyn carefully moving the rubble. A large group of civilians watched from behind the caution tape as Raelyn began to tire more and more. But she couldn't stop. She could hear the desperate cries in her mind of more survivors beneath the rubble.
If only she could move it all at once. Then the idea came to her. "I need everyone to back up," she said. "Why?" Asked a firefighter. "Because I'm going to try to lift everything all at once and I don't know if I'll be able to," she told him. "Everyone back up" the firefighter yelled forcing everyone back.
Raelyn closed her eyes for a minute. "Let me through," a man with blonde hair and brown eyes said as he approached the caution tape. "I'm sorry sir but I can do that," an officer told him. The man suddenly pulled out a shiny badge. "I'm with the Paradise task force," he told the officer. "I need to get to that girl" he added. "I'm sorry sir but right now that girl is off limits," the officer told him.
Railyn opened her eyes as they gave off a blue glow. The broken pieces of the building all at once began to lift off the ground and more survivors as well as some deceased began to float up into the air. Even as Raelyn began to sort between the survivors the deceased and the rubble she didn't break concentration.
Finally the last of the people buried were free and as Raelyn gently set them down on the ground and dropped the remaining rubble she fell to her knees exhausted. "Railyn Montgomery" she heard from behind her as the man in the military uniform approached her. She turned to see him. "Elliot?" She questioned. "You're coming with me," he told her before she fainted from exhaustion.
