Chapter 57 "How about I give myself to you?"

Not a lover, just a relative. Li Xin immediately grasped the key point, and her heart was filled with joy. If it was just being a relative, that was manageable.

"I will cure him," Li Xin said earnestly. This time, it truly came from her heart.

"Thank you," Yan Ruozhe saw the serious look on Li Xin's face and felt that this Li Xin was indeed somewhat different from the one she knew.

"Besides saying thank you, is there anything else you can say?" Li Xin didn't like hearing "thank you."

Yan Ruozhe froze. She genuinely didn't know what else to say.

"You should say, 'I'll devote my life to you,'" Li Xin joked.

Thinking about the promise she needed to fulfill, Yan Ruozhe couldn't laugh. She decided to take things one step at a time.

"Li Xin, what exactly do you like about me?" Yan Ruozhe had always been puzzled about what was so special about her that made Li Xin so persistent.

"Everything about you, I like it all." Li Xin liked Yan Ruozhe is strong sense of responsibility, her overly serious demeanor, her resilience, and all of her traits. Even Yan Ruozhe is flaws were endearing to her. Li Xin realized that it wasn't just liking anymore; it had turned into love.

Li Xin's words always exceeded Yan Ruozhe is imagination. Yan Ruozhe didn't understand such emotions, but for the first time, she faced Li Xin's feelings seriously.

"Thank you for the things you brought me. Maybe I'll have them as a midnight snack tonight," Yan Ruozhe said, thinking she'd probably be busy until very late.

"Are you planning to stay up late to handle work again?" Li Xin's heart ached. She really wished Yan Ruozhe could lose her job. Otherwise, with her workaholic tendencies, she'd probably work herself to death. Li Xin secretly hoped the Qian Corporation would collapse, leaving Yan Ruozhe penniless so she could take care of her.

"Yes, I still have a bit of work unfinished," Yan Ruozhe nodded, long accustomed to such a tight and busy lifestyle.

"Don't stay up too late. No, you never listen to me. I'll go make you some ginseng tea," Li Xin said and immediately ran back to her office to fetch some high-quality ginseng slices. Her dad always kept a good stock and frequently sent some to her office.

Yan Ruozhe didn't have time to stop her. This person really acted on a whim, she thought silently.

Li Xin quickly returned with a thermos of brewed ginseng tea, bringing it to Qian Shaowen's hospital room. Qian Shaowen was already asleep, while Yan Ruozhe was quietly typing on her laptop.

Placing the thermos down, Li Xin caught Yan Ruozhe is gaze.

"It's late. You should go rest," Yan Ruozhe glanced at the clock and said.

"You do your work. I'll just sit here quietly," Li Xin smiled at her. She liked being alone with Yan Ruozhe, even if they didn't exchange words.

"You're a doctor now. You can't afford any mistakes, so you need to maintain the best mental state," Yan Ruozhe said. To her, being a doctor was a sacred profession that involved life and death, requiring even greater caution than other jobs. Moreover, she didn't like Li Xin sitting there, staring at her without doing anything.

Seeing Yan Ruozhe is serious expression, Li Xin knew that if she didn't leave, Yan Ruozhe would probably think she was unprofessional.

"Alright, I'll head back first. Don't stay up too late," Li Xin instructed, like a worried mother hen.

Yan Ruozhe nodded. Maybe Li Xin really did care about her.

Zuo Qinghuan lay on her bed, staring at her phone. Qin Wanshu had said she'd call from a new number, but her phone remained silent. Restless, Zuo Qinghuan tossed and turned, feeling as though something unknown was tugging at her heart, making it impossible to let go.

Qin Wanshu stepped out of the shower and reached for the new SIM card and phone placed nearby. She was certain Zuo Qinghuan was waiting for her call. Her confidence was unwavering.

Slowly inserting the SIM card into the phone, Qin Wanshu dialed the familiar number. The call connected immediately. Qin Wanshu's lips curved into a slight smile. She had guessed right.

"Why are you calling only now? I've been waiting for so long," Zuo Qinghuan complained, her tone soft and almost coquettish.

"Little girl, are you pouting again?" Qin Wanshu teased. Deep down, Zuo Qinghuan was quite spoiled.

"Qin Wanshu, I really feel like biting you," Zuo Qinghuan said, wanting to leave a deep mark on Qin Wanshu, ensuring she'd always remember her. Zuo Qinghuan knew Qin Wanshu liked her, but she wasn't sure to what extent.

"Why?" Qin Wanshu's soft smile was filled with warmth.

"So you'll remember me," Zuo Qinghuan said seriously. "Qin Wanshu, I'm feeling a bit scared," she added, her tone less cheerful.

"What's wrong?" Qin Wanshu asked.

"I'm afraid of liking you more and more, to the point where I can't control myself. I used to fear love so much," Zuo Qinghuan confessed, uneasy.

"Silly girl, just let things happen naturally," Qin Wanshu said gently, comforting her. Beneath Zuo Qinghuan's carefree exterior lay a person with deep insecurities.

"Qin Wanshu, can I truly love you?" Zuo Qinghuan felt it required immense courage to love Qin Wanshu. She didn't have the background or qualities to match her.

"That's not a question for me. You should ask yourself," Qin Wanshu replied calmly.

Zuo Qinghuan detected a hint of displeasure in Qin Wanshu's tone and quickly changed the subject.

"Your birthday is coming up," Zuo Qinghuan said, her tone brightening, skillfully shifting the atmosphere.

"Mm," Qin Wanshu responded lightly. Zuo Qinghuan had a talent for reading people's emotions. Qin Wanshu's feelings were typically hard to decipher, yet Zuo Qinghuan always managed to catch them. From the start, she had known when to push and when to hold back, understanding Qin Wanshu's subtle shifts perfectly. What kind of environment had shaped Zuo Qinghuan's keen intuition? Qin Wanshu knew about Zuo Qinghuan's past, but many details couldn't be captured in a report. These details likely played a crucial role in shaping her personality.

"I'm wondering what gift to get you…" Zuo Qinghuan mused, troubled. Qin Wanshu seemed to lack nothing.

"Don't worry about it. Anything is fine," Qin Wanshu replied. She had long stopped expecting birthday surprises, as nothing had truly delighted her in years.

"How about I give myself to you?" Zuo Qinghuan joked.

"Okay," Qin Wanshu replied softly. To her, Zuo Qinghuan herself was better than most gifts.

"I'm serious. Do you really want me?" Zuo Qinghuan doubted Qin Wanshu understood her implication.

"..." Qin Wanshu was momentarily at a loss for words, finally grasping Zuo Qinghuan's meaning. Could she refuse this gift? Saying no would probably upset Zuo Qinghuan, but accepting it felt overwhelming. Qin Wanshu wasn't particularly invested in such matters, yet Zuo Qinghuan seemed oddly fixated on it.

"Just teasing you," Zuo Qinghuan said, convinced Qin Wanshu's expression at that moment must be amusing. She didn't believe Qin Wanshu would strike first. Zuo Qinghuan's goal wasn't to be conquered but to win over her goddess. The thought of her goddess yielding to her filled Zuo Qinghuan with excitement. It wasn't about the act itself but the idea of sharing it with Qin Wanshu that held such allure.
