As Jacob settled into his seat, the weight of Queen Lysandra's gaze did not lessen. If anything, it only grew heavier. There was something unnervingly precise about the way she observed him—like a scholar inspecting a rare artifact, or a seasoned general assessing an unknown force.

Selene, too, regarded him with curiosity, though there was something more subtle in her gaze, something bordering on amusement. 

Vela, seated beside him, was the only one who seemed at ease in his presence. And yet, Jacob could tell that even she was aware of the scrutiny he was under.

Then, Lysandra finally spoke. "So, Jacob, I must say, you are quite the topic of conversation within these halls. My daughter has told me much about you."

"Oh?" Jacob replied, arching an eyebrow as he glanced at Vela. "I hope it was all praise, Your Highness."

Vela shifted beside him, clearing her throat, though the slight pink on her cheeks betrayed her.
