Chapter - 153
Emerging from the royal study, Jacob exhaled slowly, rolling his shoulders to release the tension that had built up during his conversation with King Amarc. Just as he adjusted the cuffs of his coat, his gaze landed on a palace servant waiting just outside the doorway.
The servant bowed deeply. "Sir Jacob, I have been instructed to escort you to your carriage."
Jacob followed the man to the palace's main entrance. The servant and Jacob stopped though, before they reached the door. A woman stood by the massive gilded doors, her crimson hair catching the glow of the lanterns, cascading down her back like a silken river of fire. Even from a distance, her presence was magnetic.
Vela.
As soon as their eyes met, she dismissed the servant with a flick of her wrist, her sapphire gaze locked onto Jacob's. The servant hesitated only briefly before retreating, sensing that his presence was no longer needed.
