Far above, three sky serpents soared over the Verdantcrest Plateau, their great wings cutting through the storm-wracked sky. Their riders peered down at the chaos unfolding below—dozens of dark mages and warriors encircling the raised platform, their voices rising in an ominous chant. A malevolent energy pulsed through the air, thick and suffocating.

And at the center of it all, trapped within a storm of stolen magic, was Jacob.

"There!" Althea shouted over the roar of the wind, pointing toward the platform. "Jacob's there!"

But before they could act, the dark mages moved first.

Bolts of blackened fire and jagged shards of shadow magic tore through the sky, streaking toward them with deadly precision.

"Hold on!" Godfrey bellowed, yanking the reins of his serpent. The beast twisted midair, narrowly dodging a spear of writhing darkness. Another burst of shadow exploded beside them, shaking the air with its unnatural force.
