Chapter 4: The Hockey Game

We enter the arena, which was already packed with excited students. Half of the arena was reserved for students from our university, while the other half was reserved for another university. Our school's colors were burgundy and gold-the other university was blue and black. "Let's get a good seat," Jessica said. I followed her up the stairs, and then we were in a row of several empty seats.

As soon as we sat down, I could hear the other girls around me talking animatedly. Most of their conversation centered around Enzo.

"Do you think he'll let us win again?" "Of course! Enzo always plays perfectly." "I feel lucky to go to the same college as him!"

I kept scrolling through my phone as I waited for the game to start. Jessica, who was sitting next to me, pulled out a pair of binoculars and started searching the field. I could see the cheerleaders performing an energetic opening dance on their skates, with Lisa standing at the front of the cheerleading squad.

She looked radiant in her sexy uniform, tanned legs and platinum blonde hair. She wore a high ponytail with a bow. She waved her pom-poms to get the crowd excited.

This girl who stole my boyfriend made me sick.

I've never been a sports fan, but the way the crowd gets excited makes me become excited, too.

As the field hockey players skated onto the ice, some of them skated up to certain cheerleaders and kissed them publicly.

I could see Justin and Lisa exchanging glances.

Justin had never taken me to his games, even though we had been dating for months.

He never noticed me when I went to his games. I always thought he was just shy, but now I know he just didn't want Lisa to see us together.

"Ignore Justin," Jessica said, handing me the binoculars so I could see better. "He's not worth your time." I pick up the binoculars, and for some reason, I'm searching for Enzo. i don't know why I want to see him so badly.

I really did see him. Somehow, despite the thousands of students in this huge arena, Enzo seemed to be looking straight at me. Yes, it was as if he had a sixth sense, as if he knew where I was without having to think. Even in the binoculars, I could see the wildness in his eyes from the night before; like I was his prey. As my face turned red, I quickly handed the binoculars back to Jessica.Enzo turned around and skated in the center of the rink, skating in a circle and waving his field hockey stick in the air while the crowd cheered.

Around me, girls screamed and boys cheered.

The game began. I soon lost sight of the puck, but I was able to keep up with the game by watching Enzo.

He skated like lightning, moving with agility around the rink. He'll move quickly with his field hockey stick to trick his opponent, getting the puck between his opponent's legs and passing it to a teammate before he's quickly out of the way.

He moved so fast. He was almost like a flash.

Soon, opponents became frustrated and aggressive. Especially the captain of the other team - he started following Enzo closely, trying to trip him.

"Come on, Enzo!" shouted Jessica. "I hope he didn't get hurt," said another girl next to me.

Enzo scored another goal.

Suddenly, the other team's captain threw his stick and helmet onto the field.

He grabbed Enzo and wrestled with him. And Enzo just blocked and dodged, obviously not wanting to hurt the guy. It wasn't until now that I finally realized how much pressure Enzo was under as a star field hockey player.

As I watched the fight, images of us lying in bed flashed through my mind. For some reason, I actually hoped he wasn't hurt. I didn't want to look at Justin for a second.

The referee blew his whistle and stopped the fight. As Enzo stood up putting his on his helmet to cover his curly brown hair. The other player was ejected from the game for his behavior.

The game continued and the other team took a penalty kick. At intermission, the cheerleaders returned to the ice and began their halftime show. "Are you hungry?" I said to Jessica. She looked at me, shrugged, and immediately went back to talking animatedly with someone else.

Ever since I've known Jessica, she's always made friends easily. I don't mind because I'm more of an introvert and appreciate the fact that she's usually able to control all the socializing as comfortably as this. I stood up and staggered out of our row, then walked along the bleachers towards the food stand.

My stomach rumbled, the smell of soft pretzels making me even hungrier. "A soft pretzel, please," I said to the vendor. "And a glass of water." I handed the vendor my money and waited for my pretzel. Just then, I felt someone watching me.

Turning around, I saw none other than Enzo.

He was standing at the side of the rink with his teammates taking a break to drink water, but he kept staring at me. His brown eyes almost glowed.

"Miss? Hello?" The vendor snapped me out of my trance. He's holding my pretzel and water.

"Oh...sorry," I say. "Thanks." I picked up my pretzel. When I turned back, Enzo was no longer looking at me, but in the middle of a conversation with one of his teammates. I considered going back to Jessica, but after my encounter with Enzo, I just wanted to leave. I decided to find an excuse to go back to the dorms later;

Jessica had already made some friends and probably wouldn't even notice my absence.

So I left the arena and threw my uneaten pretzel in the trash on the way out because my stomach suddenly felt sick too. The cool fall air was a relief as I walked back to my dorm, though I still felt suffocated, like I was being watched...or hunted.

How did Enzo find me in a crowd like that? Why did he always seem so animalistic?

I've never heard many of his other fuck buddies complain about anything like that.

So maybe it's all in my head. Must be. Why else would Enzo look like a predator?
