Unexpected Arrival II

After some awkward glances from her supposed secretary, she finally picked up the phone and called her boss.

"Hello, ma'am, there's someone here to see you. He says it's very urgent that you speak to him, and he wants to talk about the recent events that just took place," she said.

"Okay," she said as she dropped the phone.

"She'll be here in the next 15 minutes; please have a seat while you wait."

"Thank you," the young men both replied

.….

I hurriedly got on my bicycle and rode towards my little Park exquisite Jewellery Company, which wasn't far from Bernice's company. I could walk there if I wanted to, but I was in such bad shape that I didn't feel like I wanted to see people at the moment, which is why I came to the office with my bicycle.

I wonder where I would start. Michel's expression when he sees how wrecked up I am—I'm sure it would bring out a cackle or two; just hearing him laugh would make my heart flutter. At least I would be sure there was still a chance to fix all of this.

I admit I was wrong from the very first day I decided to play Selena without thinking about how affected he would be by the news. The fact that the thought of him never crossed my mind those two days makes me feel awful inside.

I want to make things right, and I want to do good by apologizing first and letting my version of the story be heard. Then... will I demand an explanation for the sh*t I witnessed at the bar last night

"Welcome back, ma'am." Kim, my gatekeeper, greeted me as I got down and rode my bicycle into the premises.

"Thank you," I greeted back, but I was quite baffled when I saw a beautiful BMW of the latest model in the parking lot.

Did a governor's wife misplace her car inside my parking space, or is this an opportunity of a lifetime?

Forget Michel!

My crumbling business is about to witness a breakthrough!

I became an independent woman before Michel swooned over me with his love.He would have to wait until after I attended to business before we talked about our issues.

I'll go through the back and look presentable, even though I didn't bring any change of clothes because I didn't think we would have any customers today.

I still have a little poker-dot dress tucked away in one of my drawers in the office; I just hope it's still intact.

Today seems to be getting better and better by the minute.

I parked my bicycle and went through the back door to my office. I'm just glad my company has two entrances; if not, I would have been spotted out by now.

I reached for a drawer and pulled out the dress; it still looks as good as the day I bought it. Well, time to fix this mess of a face... I just hope I can efficiently hide the bags under my eyes.

5 minutes later...

Damn my smart ass... I could think of leaving clothes in the office, but to keep a decent makeup palette, I couldn't fucking pull that one off.

Gosh, Freya, how long has it been since you gave up on this business?

Anyway, I made do with what I had. I would say it was somewhat decent but still needs improvement. It kind of looks like I was trying to go as natural as possible with my makeup, and as long as they think like that, then I've got no problem with that.

I looked at the mirror straight in the eye.

"I'm going to succeed on this one; this fish that I've caught won't be ruined by sharks, but I'll bring it back to the bay as great and giant as it is! Not like old man Santiago." Okay, I'm good to go; that's enough motivation.

I ran out of the office and went to the front door. If this is someone important, they can't know I've been with them for the past 20 minutes without addressing them. I just hope my salesgirls took her round to show her our pieces.

I'd be meeting Michel and the governor's wife, and I'm sure he'll understand that this is business.

Brace yourselves, people..

I twisted the knob and let myself in, walking straight and taking a turn to the lobby. Before I even got there, I started offering my apologies.

"Please, you have to forgive me for being a bit late; I just had to attend to some personal issues with a friend of mine at her company. I hope you didn't wait too long." I paused as my eyes went straight to the two gentlemen sprawled on the lobby bench.

Of course, they had bodyguards, but they had to be the most intriguing thing in this place right now.

Their pale skin, all covered in black suits, and shiny, well-conditioned hair that could even reflect the sun made them look...quite opposite but extremely beautiful besides each other, like two sculptures that complemented each other perfectly.

It's like someone brought the actual human forms of Yin and Yang into my lobby. The guy in a white collar shirt looked so peaceful next to his friend in dark shades; his platinum-colored hair was cut into a fine mullet that brought out those hazel eyes, which turned to look at me immediately after I stopped talking.

His long legs, which were stretched on the tiled floor, now contracted as he proceeded to stand up and stretch his limbs. It didn't look awkward at all; he was rather graceful, and I found my secretary secretly swooning over him. He was a beauty indeed, and I don't judge her one bit.

"Hey there, we arrived some minutes ago, so it's really no biggie. My name is Solomon; nice to meet you..."

"Freya. Freya Park," I said as I took his hand. I hadn't realised he wanted a handshake; I was so distracted by the man in dark shades, who had taken them off and taken to his own feet.

His black turtleneck top creased because, obviously, it couldn't contain those muscles he wanted to hide. His broad shoulders made a little pop sound as he stretched them, his jaw so sharp like a blade, his lips immobile yet so plump, I bet they would feel very soft against mine

.

.

.

Wait, what the actual fuck?

FREYA!!!

This is not the time!

With much restraint, I pulled my eyes away from the man in black and turned to face Yang, who was willing to talk to me.

"Ehem!" I coughed, drawing everyone's attention to me.

"How can I help you, fine gentlemen? Have you come to buy some beautiful pearls for your mother? Sisters? Girlfriend maybe? I could show you around if you'd like to start looking for a special piece right now."

"Quite the flatterer, Freya, but thank you; your employee already offered, but we declined."

"So then, what are you here for?" I was really confused, and here I was thinking I had bagged a multimillion-won contract.

"You," he said, suddenly pulling me out of my thoughts. Yin finally spoke, and his one word was "you."

Me?

What could he possibly want with me?

I looked back at those deep blue eyes that had nothing to offer me; in fact, his icy stare put me in a frisson of shiver, like he was seeing right through my soul and the slight tingle I felt as his eyes made its way up and down my body, I felt like a bucket of cold water was dumped on me, and my breath suddenly hitched. The silent lobby wasn't doing me any good either; it just made everything feel more intense.

"Hehe, what he meant was that he wanted to speak to you in private regarding, you know, everything that has happened."

"Okay then, let's step into my office, shall we?" I beckoned as I looked at my secretary with confusion written all over me.

"Michel didn't come around today?" I whispered as I passed her.

"No ma'am, they were the ones I was talking about on the phone."

So he was the one who wanted to talk to me, not Michel.

Wow, certainly a different scenario than I had in mind. I opened my office, and Yin followed after me. When he entered, he closed the door behind him.

"Is Solomon not coming in?"

"Oh no, this is between you and me, Freya, or should I say Selena?" He said that, and I froze on the spot.

"What the hell are you talking about?" I turned around swiftly and fired back.

"Why did you lie to my father, Freya?"

Wait a minute ... Is this Reiss?

"We're supposed to get married, and here you are already throwing lies around the area," he continued, as I couldn't find any word to fathom my surprise. I didn't know Reiss would show up out of the blue!

"Excuse me, I wasn't lying to your father; I just simply stood in for my sister, who is, in fact! Your bride to  be."

I did lie, but then I didn't... Technically

"Then where is she? Lost? Or probably ran off with her boyfriend; what was his name again?" He placed a hand on his chin as he faked deep thought.

What the hell is going on here? And how does he know Selena is missing?

"Darling, you look so pale. Should I get you some water to calm your nerves down?" He said sarcastically.

"Look, I don't know what you want from me or why you came here since you're a big shot and you already know everything that has happened in the last few days. Shouldn't you be looking for her too?"

"That is not my problem, but yours. As far as I'm concerned, I have a bride."

"Well, get this through your thick scull. I am not marrying you!" I screamed

"Things aren't looking too good for you either."

"Even if Selena doesn't come back, Father knows I can't go through with this because I already have someone in mind to marry any time soon." I smirked

"Are we talking about the guy who hooked up with a club stripper yesterday? Or is there some other guy?" He frowned, and my entire confidence just shattered.

The memory of what happened yesterday and hearing it come out of his foul mouth just makes the pain 10 times greater.

"Fuck you," I hissed.

"And I'll see you at the aisle," he said, unbothered by my words as he left my office.

When I heard the door close, I dropped to the floor as my little tears trickled down my cheeks.
